And at the end he just ribs it off. The underpants thing, that was not his underpants. The underpants were knotted to the fabric the whole time, he just hide it with slide of hands. So he basically placed the underpants in his pants to steal them later.

He tied a different pair of underpants between the scarves and stuffed it into his pants. Never took the actual underwear.
