@@mpgrim3312 What do you mean the technique? Who says that it's the consensus that Magnus Midbo lacks technique? He competed very successfully! Regarding the mindset, the mindset might very well be not that he can't climb in competition settings, just that he doesn't enjoy it that much. The primary reason that would hinder him nowadays to compete on a top level is simply age. He is just a bit older by now, older than Jakob Schubert, who was the oldest at the Olympics.

Plus, by the end the amount of pure climbing joy on your face was just so nice to see. 🤌🏼 On a more technical note: I really dug the overall format of the video (i.e. the mix of real-time footage, artistic shots, and the “future Magnus” clips talking about what was going through your mind at the time). @@luke5896 it probably would, especially if it's a low stakes competition. The more of a community there is at the gym with regulars the more social control there is as well. And you can also just have a couple judges walking around.

As a volleyball athlete seeing magnus get into the zone and feel a flow state after all these years taking a break from competing and genuinely enjoying the competition is actually really moving to watch. Magnus probably wont try to qualify for a world cup again but i do hope he scratches the competitive part of his brain more!!

Magnus' performance anxiety is a real thing - not just him being humble. It was on full, painful display when he competed in a Norwegian show called Mesternes Mester. In the semifinal he was way ahead of his competitors and just needed to hit some easy targets to move on. Couldn't hit a single one. I felt so bad for him. He deserved so much better. Great to see him competing in this format where he can relax a bit, get in the flow and just show us what he can do. Fantastic video!

Watching this you can clearly see that Magnus's biggest obstacle is not any of the boulders, but rather his own perception and mental hurdles he creates for himself.
