Back before Fluconazole there was Kent Marine Tech-M magnesium dosing to get rid of Bryopsis. Magnesium actually plays a really important role in our tanks, being involved in nearly every living creature in some way. Particularly it's used by our corals and coralline algae as they grow.
Magnesium also plays an important role in keeping seawater pH consistent!

I have trouble with high magnesium. Using sea salt. Water changing a lot and I can’t get my magnesium down. It’s 1912 at the moment. My LFS can’t help me. They also don’t know why it is so high

Hi great vid my mag is 1275 and are dossing modern reef , even though my calcium is 430 . Would like my mag up to 1350 ,I dosing 15ml extra per day on top of my 20ml but still nothing happened 🙈So may try this britewell 🤷🏻‍♂️

Magnesium shouldn't go up randomly - you say up and down. Still great video and very informative.

Totally agreed - it shouldn't go up and down randomly. There are a few things that you can dose (kalkwasser, calcium reactor media, some liquid calciums) that do contain a lot of magnesium though - and that's how sometimes I think mag levels can creep up over time without being noticed. Of course, if you DON'T dose anything or do water changes, you can expect mag to drop as well.
