The Avery Magnetic Pedals by Hustle Bike Labs are now my go to pedals! Just an FYI, DH clipless
shoes tend to work best with these pedals because they have a flatter sole and a farther back cleat box so they feel similar to flats!

These particular magnet pedals seems to resolve the well-known Megpad "clicking" design flaw. However, most riders who have tried magnets will tell you that its super annoying to "click in" and not have your feet right where you want them then having to "un-click" and try again. With true clip-ins, your feet are where they're supposed to be each time. With flats, at least its super easy to adjust your feet if you plant them in the wrong spot.

I've been riding clipless for over 25 years and decided to give these a try. After 5 rides I went back to my old Shimano Saint SPD pedals. When I need to I can get out of my clipless faster than these. With that being said my feet were slipping off in chucky stuff and I was getting side to side movement with technical climbs, but when I needed to disengage my left foot was still attached even at a 45 degree angle and I couldn't disengage. I had one of those slow-motion falls that I haven't experienced in years with my clipless. As far as the "sweet spot" it has to be absolutely prefect for full attachment. With my clipless no matter where my foot was on the pedal it most always falls into place. They are well built and maybe a good fit for someone coming from riding flats, They just weren't for me.

Mee too , man, mee to. I ride 30 years clipless , different systems . Another fact that I consider is , in addition to the quicker bailout option , is also the quicker engagement chance. I need it because it is always hard to start or continue on a steep technical section, when you fight with your clips to engage and you end up with a loose foot on metal.

Hey man, great review. I just for them this weekend and I've done like three rides through rocks, chunky, drops and so forth and they have been great. Notwithstanding, there are things to get used to since I've come from clipless. I transitioned from road to MTB and clipless was second nature for me so I don't have much experience with flats. Question for you, did you keep the k9s? I feel like replacing them with regular ones to have more freedom and move my foot around more. What do you think? Should I keep them for safety reasons ? I wear the hellcats. Thank you bro.

So a year and a half later, are you still using these? More importantly are you running these on your race bikes or just your ebike? I'm tempted, though of course these pedals are seemingly made of pure unobtainium they're so hard to get. I kill Five 10s in 4 months and am a little tired of shin gashes, but pronate so have trouble getting out of clipless.

Well done bro. That was a really good review. I think another benefit would be that you no longer have to fondle around on your flats before you can finally find that "good enough" spot on the pedals. My TMACS took sometimes upward of 30 secs just to feel comfortable to pedal. How much do they weigh? I don't rem hearing anything about that. Good job man. Need to see some more riding from you too btw

Exactly. Purchasing for placement mostly. I ran clipless and had way too many uphill tip overs. With flats I get bounced off and can’t reset quick enough.

These seem enduro or downhill specific. Magnets are heavy & prolly not better than clips for mtb apps like trail or xc. I don't get riding flats on most trails in OH, but these seem spot on, if you ride gravity trails or parks. I will stick with my Crank Bros Double Shot and Mallet E's. My rides have too many climbs.
