Introduction to the topic of magnetically induced electric current, with animations. Part of multipart series on magnetism and nanotechnology.
Subsequent installments will cover Permanent Magnets, Induction, Electromagnets, Transformers, Motors Data Storage, Magnetic Logic and Nanotech applications.
It is intended for first year community college level students but could be used for many other audiences learning basic magnetism.

Thanks for your feedback, it is helpful as we refine these. This was discussed during scripting. As you point out, the actual flashlight has a capacitor and rectifier circuit, and uses an LED, not a light bulb. Because we were trying to reach an audience at a very introductory level, we simplified things, perhaps overly. The plan is to accompany the videos with background documents, one of which will be an explanation of the actual circuit, introducing diodes and capacitors.

You have done a excelllent job , it is very nice to try to explain with grafic and animation , I'm hopping that you continue doing more of this kind of work. Thank , I used this video to show to my students how electricity and the Magnetic field are related with one each other. Thanks keep up a good works.!!!

@sorova That "battery" would be called a "capacitor", which temporarily stores electricity produced by the movement of the magnet through the coil.

I have to generate light by electromagnetic induction as my project work...so I have to just take a cylindrical bottle or anything ,bulb, magnet and coil ? or any other thing also.

You forgot to add the battery and charging circuit in the shake flashlight.

+coolbluelights and the capacitor , this energy as presented in the animation is good to light only if you have the power switched on , in the video he shake then he switched on in order for that to happen the energy had to have been saved in a capacitor to then be discharged when you switch on and so i guess that a blocking diode will be in the circuit with the capacitor to stop the electron from flowing out to the light bulb till it is switched on in which case the diode will be cut of from the capacitor allowing the electrons to flow to the light

In reality the torch or flashlight has a battery it's just that you never need to replace it because when you shake the torch or flashlight the electromagnetic induction charges the battery so the battery can hold the energy produced, which means it is one of the most efficient torch or flashlight you can buy, it's also good to keep one in the car, so you can avoid the horror of a night time car breakdown without any source of light.

The last part, you forgot to mention where the voltage for the flashlight is stored.

@laurenceable67 No, it's not a capacitor it's a real battery. I saw a TV show about it. Once the battery runs down tha's it.

Your flash light have a battery,i have one like that.

That was very misleading, it is going to give the false impression that the coil becomes charged. Your circuit is missing diodes and a capacitor to store the charge generated by the magnet and coil.

Your explanation is wrong because the current was not stored anywhere. Also LED lights only light one way and not the reverse. The flashlight was not lighting when you were shaking not as you demonstrated

Most of these torches have been found to be frauds and there is a small battery in it! There would not be enough power for the bulb with that small coil and the movement.
