This origin actually makes magneto's personality make sense

It's tragic that Magneto became the very thing he hated. He was born of racism and genocide against his race, but became hateful and genocidal of the entire human race.

its all a matter of perspective whether magneto is a hero or a villain his back story does justify his actions to an extent because he has seen and experienced the worst of man kind and anyone in the same circumstances would be harboring a hatred for the people who put you through those horrific experiences.

Magneto is a truly troubled character. Because of the hardships he's faced in life he can't trust humans and no matter the hardships Xavier has always tried to trust humans and live peacefully by their side. But the X-men are always being discriminated against, tormented, and hated simply because they are different. Magneto sees the hate from Mankind and decides that they won't let them live peacefully so the only option is to rule them. It's tough. Magneto isn't inherently evil but his actions can and have been. Really he only wants his people to be treated as equals just as Xavier does, but he just goes about it a different way.

Such a sad yet beautiful origin. It illuminates how Magneto from an innocent man to the man he is now. First Class did a good job portraying Magneto, it wasn't an X-Men movie, it was a Magneto movie. If Fox still considers making a Magneto movie, they could use some of his love life.

Fun fact, Giving magneto the powers of magnetism makes him pretty op if you know a good deal about the eletromagnetic spectrum. All magnetic metals are under his sway and even photons of light. Think about he could figure out how to pull light around him being invisible by creatures who have eyes that use light refraction to see. Or if you had him fight superman and knew the yellow light gave him his powers he could to an extent pull the solar radiation out of superman rendering him as mortal as any other person. Oh yes radiation can be effected and affect eletromagnetic fields so his powers are pretty op. Which is nuts when you think about gravity, it literally holds the universe together, its also affected by magnetic fields too. Its nuts he has all that potential power mixed with his goals and dedication to his people he makes for a really awesome character who is defined as much by who he is as his powers. Too bad superman never got such care its a waste no one makes him human enough. Yay Tangent!

Doing this by memory During the "Acts of Vengeance", a storyline where the major villains of the marvel universe agreed to an alliance so that they fight each others enemies. Magneto, who was part of the alliance, confronted a fellow member, who was none other than the Nazis war criminal, The Red Skull. Magnus wanted to avenge the lost of his family and the Jewish people, at the hands of the Nazis, and after a small fight, Magneto defeats the Skull.Rather than kill him, Magneto left him in a underground bunker with no light and enough water to last him a few weeks, but no food. Before leaving Mag tells him to contemplate his actions and suffer as his victims did, he seals the bunker and leaves.One of my favorite Magneto moments

I believe Magneto is a sympathetic villain. His motivations and reasons for them are legitimate/justifiable (he wants to protect mutant-kind from what he went through during Germany's Nazi era) but his actions are not.

Everything in this video only solidifies my love of Magneto. Although he is considered as a villain, you understand that his devastating past has caused such rage and hate. You never fully agree with his actions, but you find him relatable because he toes that very thin line of what is considered right and what is considered wrong.

He's definitely a villain. He and Juggernaut are my favorite X-Men villains. On a side note, before I retired from collecting action figures, I got the Marvel Select Magneto lol. Had to add him to my X-Men collection. My favorite X-Men hero is Wolverine and I already named my favorite villains above. Good review.

I think the interesting thing about Magneto is that (at least in recent issues) tends to acknlowledge that he's a villain. While other bad guys are evil because they love it or try to justify themselves as good, magneto admits that he's a monster who does terrible things because he doesn't see another way. And of course he doesn't like being called out by so-called "heroes" who admittedly don't do a lot to fight the often lethal discrimination against mutants. But of course for the longest time, he was just a regular supervillain.

Magneto's more than justified he's completely right people in the marvel universe treat hero's and mutants like shit always ungrateful and angry civil war started because people hated heros for what nitro did, he killed those children but the whole world turned against those who tried to stop him. Magneto's right humans will never accept mutants and they will always hate them. It's like what Spiderman once said. "When crime is down everyone's patting themselves n the back talking about what a good job they did. But when crime goes up suddenly its all my fault."

Maneto is a villian with some elements of anti-hero depends on the writer realy. He has best interests of mutants on his mind(what he sees as best interests anyway) and usually takes thing way too far.

Magneto's true powers aren't over magnetism (though he can control magnetic forces apparently), for he has been shown to be able to stop lead bullets and other non-magnetic metals. His true powers are metallikenisis, manipulation over any metal with his mind.
