A storm is breaking to be on the Magnificent Century.
Who is the person who saves Sultana Hatice's life? Will İbrahim Pasha be able to win Sultana Hatice's heart again? Will the oath-taking ceremony cause Prince Mehmet and Prince Mustafa fall out of each other? Will Sultana Hürrem be able to learn who Firuze is that she keeps getting closer with?
Gülşah rises Hürrem's bait and attempts killing Sultana Hatice.
Sultan Suleiman and İbrahim Pasha returns from the east expedition to the capital. Mustafa who has been the regent prepares to get back to Manisa with Mahidevran. Prince Mehmet gets accepted in the guild of janissaries with a majestic oath-taking ceremony.
Gülşah who has attempted to kill Sultana Hatice becomes a victim of a dangerous plot. Mahidevran doesn't believe that Gülşah has attempted that alone. However, Hürrem has already planned everything that she can brush off this problem.
Hürrem keeps Firuze with her without knowing that she is the woman she has been looking for and Nigar chooses keeping silent even if she knows the truth!
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

This felt more like husband - wifey banter. Too sad that the married couple banter was explored only in S3 and S4 (don't get me wrong, S1 and S2 was all about love arc and these two being typical lovers - jealousy, passionate).

In a better written show, Hatice and Nigar would have teamed up against the man that's both hurting them in the first place, Ibrahim. Alas, they had to make Hatice chronically dumb and spin it to her blaming Hurrem somehow.

Both Hatice and Nigar see Ibrahim as if he's some sort of a saint who blesses them with his presence (I can't say what I really think because I'll be banned for foul language 😂😂). And they become angry, even vicious towards anyone who dares claim that Ibrahim is a doucebag who doesn't deserve such loyalty and love since he doesn't offer any

@@user-ob4sq6fi3s You know by now I would have given you a thousand thumbs up if I could. The premise of MC was that in all things Ibrahim was superior to Suleiman apart from the throne. Evident from the beginning when Ibrahim conducted the sword girding ceremony with a random sword, a ceremony he would not have attended in real life because he was his poultry keeper. Paying for and holding the second most renowned circumcision ceremony in Ottoman empire existence in his home. Suleiman have a prenuptial meeting in his unkempt garden, holding thr ceremony in secret in his garden shed. The greatest insult, going in and out of Suleiman's harem at will. All the time working his way up without loyalty to anybody.

Who else finds it REALLY hard to believe that Hurrem wouldn't have gone down to the dungeon to see what happened with Gulsha...but nope, that would've ended the whole "who is the real concubine thats sleeping with Suleiman" (Firuze) story arc/plot that drags on way longer than necessary 😴

@Leo unpopular opinion, but I actually dont mind Firuze and I think shes pretty.... well , more like as in "like to dislike" (show/character wise)... but I dont mind seeing her on screen or scenes shes in. She was the only woman Hurrem kinda worried about to be honest

I really hate how Hurrem and Hatice ( and Mahidevran by the way) interfere with each other in their couples. Instead of trying to fight this patriarcal system , they make some mysoginic move and sentence and destroy each other( if we except that there is fratricide law in the case of Mahidevran and Hurrem and that's why they could not be allies). But to be fair they were womens, they can't fight men ( or else directly) and they remain more or less powerless regardless of their ranks (apart from the fact that Hatice refuses to divorce Ibrahim), not every women could be Wu Zetian. It was very hard to be a women in this time ( and even today in relation to certains situations)...

Well, this show was made by Turkish show runners who themselves probably don't harbour very progressive views on women. They also portray characters such as Gulfem, Hurrem, Nurbanu, and Suleiman extremely inaccurately to the point of insulting. (Suleiman never ever cheated on Hurrem during their relationship, Gulfem and Hurrem were incredibly close friends in real life, Nurbanu and Hurrem never became enemies, and many more examples.) The real life Hurrem would never act so childish and immature as her portrayal on this show. It also tends to give some character extreme plot armour and or have them act so stupid it's out of character just for drama. In short, Magnificent Century is entertaining, but as far as "good" shows go, it's very low on the list and it's not at all respectful to the historical figures it's trying to portray. Yes, even Hurrem.

In short, you're better off watching a Chinese made harem drama than this one, like Ruyi's Royal Love in Palace. Since good Chinese harem dramas aren't afraid to show the Emperor in a bad light, a bad husband, and the despair women face in being forced to share a single husband within a walled city they could never ever leave.

@@princess7jasmine To be fair even in history these women were trapped to this syste patriarcal. You forget the diabolization of Mahidevran, she was a very strong women and a very good player, without the protection of the most powerful man of Ottoman Empire she do so much, deserved deserved a lot of respect and in my opinion was one of the most brave women in the high person. In my opinion she lost because unfortunately no matter how good a player she was, having never been in favor with Suleiman (and by extension her son who made like even mistakes although comprehensive in my point of view that's another discussion).She is the one of my favorite historical character but they butchered her so she is not in the show even if I don't think she was evil . Historical Hurrem always remember to Suleiman that he was her master , his absence hurt her when he leaves the palace for his war campaigns ( I said that because of the letter she send to Suleiman) and I think that it pleased his ego and I don't blame her to do that she had to stayed in his good favor ( even if he was faithful to Hurrem and really love her not like in the show)... As he become more paranoiac and older I suspect than she flattered even more because she was afraid for the future of her son ( he kill one because he make some mistakes and Bayezid was more disobedient than Mustafa so I think she was very afraid for him that's why she favoured him). But the true Hurrem like you said is more adult and have good politicals skills, very interested by charities,etc... But it pains me that ever free women than Hurrem had a lot of limits against Suleiman ( even when she becomes her most trust concelor). When in Nurbanu she was on good terms with Hurrem but had no other choice, she was the favorite of a Sehzade and Hurrem was the wife of the Sultan. To be honest there is not enough documentation of their relationship during the period when Hurrem favored Bayezid. And yes I hate the plot armors of MC ( like everyone else). Oh thank you for the Chinese dramas, I really want to see it ( I have to finish other series first), and I am relieved that the Emperor is in bad light :)

@@kikima258 Good to see another fan of Mahidevran in history :) .. They diabolize her too in manga, poor women even in the death she can't find peace. She was the real figurical of tragedy in" royalty" because we have to be honest some rulers in royalty were executed because they make a lot of mistakes and endanger their peoples despite having a lot of chance ( like Louis XVI even if I understand he was not bad, he brought a lot of problem on himself and his people ) but they are represented as tragic while Mahidevran had a more terrible fate no matter what she do, but she is represented as evil. She had not a powerful family to defend her reputation this time and she is a women (wrong combination) . But to be fair they diabolize Hurrem too and didn't show her politicals skills and her compassion by making a lot of charity ( even if I find that she can be figurical historical quite overrated I am more fascinated by queen Fredegonde of Merovingian as self made queen but I can understand why people like her, she had a career more impressioning that some kings and Emperors in Europe).
