When I set customers up with these, I found that 4” or greater feathers in 3-fletch and offset/helical (right or left wing depending on how the bow clocks) get great flight. I wouldn’t recommend straight fletch with theses. Also, I always set up the arrow so 1 blade is pointing straight down to maximize your sight clearance and I like the arrow length to be about 1.5” or more in front to the shelf for safety. The hanging pillow target works great…..just keep some packing tape handy because it takes about 3 shots to destroy a pillow.

Something else to try would be flu-flu arrow fletching and/or adding up to three #10 washers behind the broadhead since you are trying to improve flight, and penetration with this type head/neck shot is not an issue. Number 10 washers weigh about 12 grains apiece. This can add up to 36 grains up front. Three 5 inch plastic vanes weigh about 35 - 40 grains. Three 5 inch feathers weigh about 10 grains. ADDING weight to the front of the arrow and REDUCING weight at the rear can have a dramatic affect on flight. I raised the FOC on a crossbow arrow from 9 percent to 12 percent just by replacing the plastic vanes with feathers using the same weight point up front.

I just got the 100gr kit today which only took 2 days to get here. I literally put the heads on the arrows, walked outside and they were dead on at 10-20yrds. Lucky? I don't know, but they flew like darts never adjusted anything.I can't wait to try them on a turkey.

I love the Bullheads, I've been using them for years. I build my own turkey arrows, a little longer, but that's pretty much it, same nock, same feathers...I did build a couple of flu-flu arrows one year but I don't think you need them; it was cool to watch those big fletching in flight though! I'm kinda disappointed you didn't do the hotdog shot though...

I learned to shoot when I was 10, and my cousins wouldn’t let me use a sight. I think I was some experiment for them, but now I can’t shoot accurately with a site. It’s all instinct shooting for me. I guess it worked because I can hit a bullseye at 60yds or less

Okay… once again… we have some fuzzy thinking goin* on. No, your war heads and your fletch are NOT wings. Wings create lift by creating a pressure differential between the upper and lower surfaces. They are properly called fins - that redirect airflow along the shaft. Bad arrow flight (assuming a good shooter, a properly tuned bow, properly spined arrows,etc) results from the warhead impeding the the gyroscopic effect created by the fletch. That is basically what your arrow is… a child’s gyroscope. When the gyroscope is spinning fast enough, it will balance on your finger. When it slows, it goes unstable and will eventually tip over. We see the same effect in guns: if the rifle does not spin the bullet fast enough, it will go unstable and tumble and even create keyholes at the target. What you’re doing with your adult fletch is simply inducing enough spin to create the required gyroscopic effect needed to stabilize the arrow.
@aaronward3882
@aaronward3882 Жыл бұрын
Spin rate does not mean much on an arrow because the center of mass is ahead of the center of pressure. The spin rate on bullets crucial because the center of mass is behind the center of pressure.

Can you explain or point me in the right direction for "lift can also push down" part?
@mat_in_texas

That’s how airplanes fly. The elevator (tail) is creating lift in a downward direction to keep the nose up. Think teeter totter.
@TheMichiganShow
@TheMichiganShow Жыл бұрын
@@mat_in_texas I understand Bernoulli’s principle but along with the shape of the wing as air flows over the top causing lift from underneath the wing…flight….but when Troy mentioned lift also can push down while talking about the broadhead confused me
@RanchFairy
@RanchFairy Жыл бұрын
Lift is a technical term describing how the broadhead pushes into the atmosphere. There is NO UP on a broadhead - it does not have wings on the side to make it go one direction (with a motor pushing of course). it is rotating (and the shaft is bending while rotating which no one talks about...well, me!). So it is "lifting" in all directions as it goes downrange. Think about it as pushing into the atmosphere, not lifting (which it is doing because the atmosphere has mass and pressure from gravity pulling on the atmosphere around 14.7 PSI (sea level) then give or take based on elevation). So it "lifts" into the mass of the atmosphere. We cannot control up or down "lift".

We came out with them in 2008. We have put 15 years into the engineering and development of the system. I have head chopped more birds than anyone, all with the Bullhead during my involvement with the brand/product since 2009. There is a reason that the Bullhead is the #1 head chopping broadhead these days. The system just flat works.

@RanchFairy
@RanchFairy Жыл бұрын
I'll take this cheap shot because we are talking about chopping their head off and not a body shot and then, just to play along, I'll one up you. An arrow that will kill a Cape buffalo will kill a deer and a turkey but a twizzler stick with the old flapper on front, is capable of killing a deer and turkey. However, on cape buffalo, it will dramatically increase the chances you become the "greasy stuff in a Cape cape buffalos hooves." So, it doesn't hurt. I sure hear a lot of flapper shooters saying turkeys are "hard to penetrate".

You won't find any difference if you screw on a 125 Bullhead. Due to the forces on the longer blades, the lift is exaggerated and will act like a heavier head than it actually is.
