Featured is a chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Loek van Wely from their DSB Bank Tweekamp match in 2006. Loek van Wely opts for the Kan variation of the Sicilian Defense and invites Carlsen's queen knight into his house, aimin to next exploit the newly weakened e4-square. This idea however is not accurately timed. Carlsen pounces on this misstep by obtaining an Alpha Zero pawn, and soon thereafter an octopus knight on d6.

Jerry, I'm convinced that you're not just the best Chess KZfaqr but also one of the most wholesome and enjoyable figures on the internet. Your Standard games (15+10) have improved my chess a great deal. I'd love you to do more of those, but all your content is fantastic. Thanks!

I love your use of "taming" the knight. Makes so much more sense than "dominating" the knight.

worth pointing out Nb4 also protects/hits d5 -- major reason why Nb4 is so strong after a4 from white

I was wondering why black didn’t save the rook and let white take the knight instead.

15:48 I actually went with Qg5+ because I thought that was more direct. Possible lines, king goes to the back rank, Rxd8+ follows. If instead Kf7, Rd7+ would be the response -- king is forced to the back again and the Queen's coming into e7 and g7. Black has no time for cheapos like Qe1 because every move comes with a check.

You still have to be accurate after Kf8 Rxd8+ Rxd8 the most clinical is Qxd8+ Kf7 Qg5. I liked Rxd8 going straight into a winning pawn endgame.
