Magnus is a true competitor. No one who is TRUELY competitive would ever be happy with a free win. A similar thing happened recently in the GSL I believe ( Starcraft 2 tournament) where two extremely good players were playing, Byun and Astrea. Astrea is one of if not the best player from NA, but was definitely the underdog going into the series. In the final game where the series was tied, Byun was in a winning position but it was very VERY close and 100% still opportunities to turn it around, Byun ended up having to tap out because he has very bad wrist problems and his wrists were hurting too bad to play. This reminds me of that because I had it on good authority that Astrea was extremely disappointed at not being able to play the game out despite being slightly behind. True competitors don't want free wins, they want to play the game at the highest levels.

True competitors are fantastic. In the 1990’s hydroplane boat racing Budweiser had the first turbine engine. PaynPak had the second so was the only competition. PavnPaks tool truck burnt down. This is why you always just roll your opponent no matter the circumstances. Being present at your game is part of the game. If you travel to a tournament and sleep in for round 1 you have no one to blame but yourself just like if you blunder a queen.

Obvious mouse slips I always allow takebacks for, but when someone just misses something and makes a dumb blunder that isn't a mouseslip then I never give takebacks. Recently had a dude that thought for 2 minutes before making a game losing blunder and the guy wants a takeback...
@jemand8462
@jemand8462 Жыл бұрын
@@softan I know, it's hilarious. Usually it's indian guys who play like that. But I think it's obvious that if you offer a Queen trade - it was literally in front of the other queen - it's not a blunder if you move your pawn a square up instead of retaking the queen haha

Not saying he isn't a cool guy, but this is more about his own honor than anything. Usually, he is the one who gives "odds" by arriving late. He does not want to be on the other side of that equation, because that would be a loss-loss: either he wins but he had a huge advantage anyway, or he loses and it's extremely humiliating.
