This is a 2-hour bullet chess tournament, Lichess Titled Arena May 2019, I provided commentary on while specifically observing World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen compete. I livestreamed this event at twitch.tv/ChessNetwork. Lichess Titled Arena May 2019 is held for titled chess players only, namely Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters etc... Magnus Carlsen played under the account "DrNykterstein" for this event. Its $1,000 prize pool goes to the top 5 players, with 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125, 4th - $75, and 5th - $50. This tournament was played on May 4th, 2019.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on KZfaq for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. :D

Carlsen on a completely different stratosphere. I have never seen such a gifted person who plays basically all chess types (960, Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, Classic) at the same highest level. Much respect...
@schleiferbeppo
@schleiferbeppo 5 жыл бұрын
Well that's not entirely true. Of course he is the best classic chess player in the world and the way he played, especially in 2019, was simply stunning. But Blitz is still different. He has a Blitz rating of freaking 2954, that's just out of this world...

Thank you for doing this - it's a real privilege to watch Magnus do his stuff. When he has gone we will miss him, I don't think his replacement will make himself so publicly available. This was one of the most disputed Lichess events I've seen with Jerry commenting. Midway there were still 9 players within grasp of first place, very exciting! That triple loss in a row for Carlson was shocking and uncharacteristic. I could feel his frustration as he took a breather, it was telling at how emotional he can get playing. He's only human we often forget! But like a true champion came back CRUSHING it with 12 wins in a row!! It's like he used that negative moment to fuel him to victory. Thank you Jerry for such a wonderful coverage.

@TheGrandmaMoses
@TheGrandmaMoses 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to be an a**hole, but that's simply not correct. The 'a' of Zugzwang is like the 'a' in 'car', just a bit shorter; it is not like the 'a' in pawn. Phonetically, the 'Zugzwang a' would be an 'ā' whereas the 'pawn a' would be an 'ɔː'. For completion, the 'a' in car would be 'a:' - it's pronounced exactly like 'ā', just a bit longer. Greetings from germany, have a good day.
