I wish there were prize events where players at up to 3 positions of their choosing can reveal the top 3 engine moves and evaluation. Players like Hikaru and Magnus would play at 3600 strength. We see in these game reviews how there are almost at most 3 critical decisions per side where just knowing the move, Hikaru can immediately deduce the whole line. Where raw computational effort is the only way forward basically. It would be seriously entertaining as knowing when to use these engine reveals would bring a difficult strategic element players arent used to. But it would make for some rather interesting chess matches.

I feel magnus plays much much better w 2700 rated opponents or more than random 2500's maybe he uses way too many offbeat openings or something but it's surely weird

i think that he mostly plays against the 2500 in blitz or bullet , and he depends on putting them in an unfamiliar position with weird openings and they get confused with low time to calculate , but when he try to do that in classic chess they just figure it out as they have a lot of time , and he just draw or lose as his weird moves orders leads to long term disadvantages , but when he play against strong player he plays the best lines , thats why his accuracy against high rated players is extremely high , unlike his games with low rated ones

It’s because they are only playing for draws against him whereas the higher rated players are playing for a win. It’s a lot easier to beat someone who is also trying to beat you. If your opponent is happy with a draw then it is much more difficult to find winning moves.

he took more risk and play faster against 2500-2600 players, most likely to make his opponent feel uncomfortable and under more pressure, although it backfires sometimes, whilst against 2700s he played like usual, such as endgame grinds and positional chess.

I encountered Hikaru in the astral plane today. He taught me the astral presence is called the shen in Taoist terminology. Bjerre is nothing like "beer". - More like "bear". Then add your "j-sound" of choice, e.g "bjear" :) Maybe we will all one day know him as Jonas, like a Jonas vs Magnus. Which then imposes the problem, it's nothing like "djonas" All in all, his name is pronounced _exactly_ as written, Jonas Buhl Bjerre :D Well, to some at least....

@@alphastorm88 blitz and bullet and even rapid wasnt taken seriously back then so we cant tell how good these chess goats were at speed chess , but i agree , in speed chess his performance close up a lot to magnus and i would say they are equal at bullet actually ( still classical chess is considered to be the most important and iconic , fide rating depends on it ) just not to get me wrong , i am a fan of hikaru and his stream is a part of my day , but seeing some players saying he is considered a goat kinda annoy me , chess goats should be players that were completely dominant in their era , otherwise we should call fabiano a goat , ding a goat and nepo a goat and others ....

I’m still trying to figure out how chess became regarded as a respectable lifetime pursuit. I mean I like it, I’m not talking shit, I’m just saying how did a board game gain this sort of respect as a gentlemanly or intellectual pursuit on a professional level?
