For those saying that the bolts aren't long enough: your nuts have slid back in their slots. Push them back in with your screwdriver or the bolt, then make sure you don't push the bolts too hard before you start threading.

The reason Magpul tells you to stagger the magazines (one lower than the other) is so the ejection port and dust cover are un-inhibited.
@realeyesrealize3882 жыл бұрын
You don't need to manipulate the dust cover. Just leave it open and keep your mags even (not staggered). It works fine

There’s a nut on the inside on the other end, use a screw driver and a mallet to shove it in enough so when you set it up to put the screws back in, it will catch the nut and tighten
@himnem5613 жыл бұрын
One has to sort of squeeze the 2 halves together before being able to bolt them together. When other reviewers say the maglink is defective or the screws are too short, theyre probably failing to squeeze them tight.

If you don't offset them, when you have the left hand side mag in the magwell, it's could interfere with the dust cover opening if you had it closed for some reason, and your casings would be hitting the right mag, and possibly cause a malfunction.
@enemroy10 жыл бұрын
Exactly!
@maxkulis7216 жыл бұрын
Easy fix, just load the right mag first, no reason why your dust cover would be closed in the time you shoot 1st mag till you quickly reload the 2nd. When they are leveled the rifle has the ability to balance and stand on its own in the pistol variant (which is neat, faster to pick up)

I have found I have to download the mag on the left by two rounds so the first round does not unseat during shooting, particularly during hammered pairs, or triple taps, etc.

I hadn’t even thought of downloading. I just assumed I couldn’t rely on this set up when rounds started riding forward on the spare. I’ll need to give that a try.

I think he thought you were messing with him. If you pay attention to what the mag link attaches to, if you are using 30rd magazines, you can't there simply isn't enough real estate to do it. But if you bought the 40rd Gen 3 Magpul Mags, then yeah you could...but...then you'd be hoofing 120rds....and that'd be very heavy compared to 60 rounds.

When sliding a fully loaded mag in, the top round will slam against the bolt, normally the top round will ride high when loaded so that the bolt will catch and slide it into chamber. Always best to slide the bolt back into lock position, this allows for the mag to slide in without the closed bolt which will prevent it from locking into place- that's why you have to apply force, then simply release the bolt and loading the first round.
