Ramayan and Mahabharat are two Historical Epics that took place during the ancient period. These books contains various scenarios and situations. It's been mentioned what were done during those scenarios and situations. On reading them every individual can relate to something of their own life and then use those as guidelines to lead a proper life. Also they would help to answer various questions that may arise and helps to guide us in various ways. Bhagavad Gita is a section within Mahabharat where Lord Krishna speaks with Arjun within the battlefield. He talks about after and before life, karma(duties), relationships, good and evil and various other truths of life. These sayings of Lord Krishna are considered as the most holy book. Although Shree Bhagavad Gita is the most popular holy book of Hinduism, however the actual books come way before than that and most of their origin go so far that their dates are unknown. These are Purana Veda and Upanishad. These books contains all about life, how to lead life, also it talks about almighty, talks about science, astrology, astronomy, mathematics, physics, botany, medicine and what not. These are the books of the Sanatan Dharma

The Mahabharat is the biggest epic in the world. Maharshi Vedvyas was it's creator. About 18 lakh different words are there in Mahabharat. And above all there have Shree Krishna's Geeta gyan.

Budget is not huge so CGI is not up to the mark of GoT but comparing both is like comparing apples to oranges. One is history that shaped Bharat and Baratiya culture and the other one is fiction. About Mahabharata it’s more about gaining life lessons then being visually pleasing with breathtaking CGI. The sub-plot and stories are core rest your can let your imaginations fly. Although I think South Movie industry is planning to making a big budget Mahabharata in series. That would be simply amazing.
