What Maher Zain is doing is such a wise thing ! The songs that have music in it, is meant to attract disbelievers ! I have many KAFIR friends listening to maher zain because of the music ! It depends on us ( we muslim) to what we want to hear. Maher zain gave us the choice between music and vocals, it's up to you to what you listen.
