I fish in the brackish side of the dam so we have tasted many species. Sheeps reds blacks multiple types of trout species mangroves Spanish if you have a boat. Even bass crappie and blue gill. All in one spot my guy.

I think you were missing fish because it was skipping on the surface. Try more weight lume a 1/2oz bullet weight in front and see if you hookup ratio goes up. Just an idea
