Sorry I must have missed your comment, but yes that is pretty much Mahjong summed up, there are lots of ways to win and score higher but it is easier to just do that, and get lucky on the other ones for high score and full straight etc, and yes no stealing helps a lot, cheers for the comment, and good luck with the plat

can happen dude, unfortunately it is RNG so maybe go off to another minigame or substory etc and then come back, hopefully that will reset the RNG, and maybe try the medium table, sometimes the easy table is harder for some unknown reason, but yeah make sure that each set is made of the same tile style, like all dots, can't cross mix them, you will get there I'm sure, just keep at it!

It depends on the version you are playing unfortunately, some dont have numbers on and some do, however I would use cyricz guide on Mahjong hands to make it slightly easier

For Bamboo (green) and Dots (Black), it's the number of sticks/dots there are. For the Japanese tiles (it may be tricky, but): one line is 1, two lines is 2, three lines is 3, the rectangle is 4, the "e" shaped one is 5, the star shape is 6, the "X" shape is 7, the "Roof" is 8 and the "Hook" shape is 9

Basically you need 3 tiles of the same class, in either a straight 1,2,3 or a triple 333, and then you need 4 of those hands and then a double. Dragon or directional ones you would need a triple, the in depth rules are tricky but that is the basics, you can make full straights with the tiles or flushes etc similar to poker in the overall 14 tile hand, it is very rng heavy but hopefully you will get some luck with it!

Hi, I think it depends on the version you are playing on, I was playing on PS4 or xbox but I think pc might be different, I would use cyricz guide as it shows pictures of the tiles with numbers, should be in the description to help you out

Not gonna lie I don't even know what a Dora or an Ura-Dora is XD so if the middle tile is a 6 and you do a 7,8,9 you get more points? @@ragnarhenchbrok A dora is like another red tile, you just get more points with it. Having a 789 would get you one dora but if you have a 777 you'd get 3 doras so that would add to the points. I did look up what an ura-dora is and normally those five tiles in the middle are actually 10 tiles (5 underneath) and if you win on a riichi you get the tile underneath as a dora as well. I've actually platted 0-3 so far but I just love mahjong quite a bit even if there are some things I still don't get. Was just curious to hear someone else talk about mahjong. And getting tripple bamboo's gives extra points but doing bamboo 7,8,9 is also good enough for a dora yes?

@@Bushido1389 yes, triple 7 would be 3 doras and 789 would be one. It's always what's next in sequence. Also good luck on that. I think with the one in K2 (I'm assuming the sub story on the same street as Serena) I used one of the cheat tiles that guarantees a win since it's such a difficult one to beat (that guy is super tough)

Good question I don't actually know much about the rules of mahjong, however, I saw the game was coming to a close and the closer you are to a finishing hand I think you get consolation points if it isn't tsumo, might have just been drunk, but in general do not use cho or pon because it lowers your score, like if you steal a tile you lose dora I think, the best way is to try and formulate a hand from what you pick up naturally

Hey, I hadn't heard that it didn't have numbers on some versions, which version do you have/which console, they might have taken bits out, think you can get a mod if it is the steam version, I would personally just print out a picture of them so you can see them as you play or have it on your computer etc

@@ragnarhenchbrok Well I had a look at other guides on just how to get Riichi Ippatsu and others don't understand why a Ron won't work - guides say it should (It even said Riichi and Ippatsu on the winning board screen at the end of my round), but each and every guide showing it unlocking is only with a Tsumo. So it has to be a bug, but for most playing wouldn't even realize it. Idk if I should or can report it to sega... it's been out for some years now. I hate bugs so much, but when they make you feel dumb when you're actually doing the right thing... it's very annoying. I just hope someone reads this in the future and knows it's not their fault if Ron doesn't work. Anyway, thank you I need all the luck I can get, lol. ; D

Glad some of the videos help! It only appears that way on console I believe, if you are playing pc or steam it doesnt have it on, you would need to have a guide open with those numbers on whilst you play if it isnt showing up to make it easier for you, best of luck with the plat and thanks for the comment!

And honestly batting was very hard but catfight club wasn't nearly as bad as people say, dare i say it was kinda easy. But mahjong is somehow even harder then batting and i feel like i'll take a while to complete it so i decided to finish the story first and leave mahjong as the final thing in the completion list, and my god for now i'm in chapter 13 with 80 hours in the game it was a lot of fun and i am loving it, right now i want to complete the story. And back to the point this game was so good and so addicting this game made me smile all the way through besides some minigames lol

@@megacatlive I agree batting was difficult, and yeah cat fight is pure rng so its good you had a good time with it, I've done the plat 2 or 3 times and 1 time it was easy and the other times was a pain. Mahjong is tricky because you have to learn a lot and you need rng as well to help along the way, it takes time but you will smash it i'm sure, and absolutely, take a break and do other things if it is getting frustrating on the Mahjong, makes it more bearable, yeah the story in these games are phenomenal, the platinums are tedious but there are some fun parts for sure!

Honestly I have never really looked at the hands, so it was pretty much RNG for me, but I would assume a full straight is a good hand and always try to make use of the dragon or north east south west tiles if possible, I believe there is a hands guide on cyricZ guide in the description but if not I'm sure there are some guides on decent hands, best of luck to you on this!

Best way to get an haneman is to stack Dora tile and do a riichi and hope to get a reverse Dora. Or if you're really lucky you can try to get all the tiles from the same family (without honors tiles) with one dora

The basic idea is to get 4 sets of 3 tiles and 1 set of 2 tiles, a set would be a straight or a 3 of a kind, similar to poker. So focus on firstly not using pon or chi, secondly just try to make a hand of for example 1,2,3. 5,5,5. 5,6,7. 7,8,9. And then 2,2. That is an example of a standard winning hand. It can be any combination of numbers as long as it is a straight or same number. There are other tiles as well that are D for dragon, E for east, S for south etc they are used as 3 of a kind or can be the double. Press square every round as you might have a hand without knowing it, if you are 1 tile away, riichi will pop up and the game will auto play until win or the last tile is drawn. Focus on the basics first and then check out winning hands etc best of luck to you and it takes time to learn so don't be too hard on yourself, just keep trying.

congrats on getting full straight, must have been close to getting haneman with that, riichi ippatsu definitely helps, getting directional or dragon tiles should help too but yeah its pure rng if you are the same as me and don't understand some of the rules for dora, hopefully you get it soon and best of luck to you! thanks for the comment

It doesn't tell you to as far as I am aware which is a bit harsh especially for new players, but yeah square on ps controller would let you know if you need one more tile or not, if you only need 1 more tile to win riichi would show up and then the game auto plays to either a tsumo, ron or draw or someone else win, you don't have to call riichi though if you want a fully concealed hand, hope that helps, thanks for the comment

@@ragnarhenchbrok It's just odd. We looked through the rules for which button to press to do exactly that. It's strange because chi and pon appear without any button pressing.

A lot of it is RNG, I would go off and do different things and then come back and see if your luck changes, also try different tables, also on settings put on 2 Dora minimum if you haven't already, usually slows them down from getting riichi as fast, hope your luck changes, you will get it eventually I'm sure of it!

@@ragnarhenchbrok thx for the advice, I'll get it eventually but I'm pretty sure I'll never enjoy it, some of the mini games are the only reason I hate Yakuza sometimes. That's why I always drop and come back to those, love the games in general, but hate those mini games.

@@Bacon-vm1rr if you are now winning games, then I would suggest looking up different styles of hands, like full straight or flush or various other ones, you will get them eventually if you keep winning it's just winning with a good score, don't use chi or pon and try to get directional or dragon tile triplets as that can help, I'm not an expert sadly so I don't know the rules but I'm sure you will get them if you keep playing

It is pure RNG, the aim is to get 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, of 1 suit ( so like all dots or all green or the other one) then you can have a random 3 tiles and then a random double, hope that helps, it is pretty rough but if you just keep aiming towards the straight only, it will happen at some point

Apparently they don't show up on steam version or might be pc in general but I'd recommend using a guide like CyricZ as they show the tiles so you should be able to use that and eventually get used to what is what, best of luck with your plat!

Aha it's definitely not worth the stress compared to other games, however, if you got to riichi it means you are one tile away from winning so you know how to win, Ron just means you steal the winning tile, so if you or someone else steals the winning tile you call Ron, you were just unlucky and I'm sure you can do it, takes some luck, and good luck

Hi, it would only pop up when you are 1 tile away from victory but if you use pon and chi to steal tiles,the hand you need has to be a high scoring one, you lose Dora I think for every steal, so it is best to just not steal tiles and attempt to make a hand from what you have, although stealing something like a dragon tile is not too bad as it gives you a point for the hand, if that makes sense, quite hard to explain but yeah it would be on your own turn when you are able to press square to see if you have riichi

It's basically 14 tile poker if that helps, just aim for 4 hands of 3 tiles and a double, always press square each round in case you are 1 tile away from winning, it is overwhelming as a beginner but it gets easier with time

@@georgem2768 Congrats on the parts you have done already, full straight just got to aim for that from the start and it will happen eventually, might be worth stealing tiles to get the ones you want on that, full straight is 1-9 and then a triple and a double, mangans and hanemans will come naturally, not stealing tiles helps you get a better total score I think, so play each game not stealing and hopefully you get lucky

hey, yeah you can win with 1 tile remaining, did you use pon or chi? I assume you mean that with the sets at the side, the idea is to not do that because you lose points for stealing tiles, so it becomes a lot harder each time you use pon or chi, Im not an expert but only use that if you are aiming for a full straight or something like that, it can be tricky not to steal but the rng should come round for you at some point, hopefully that helps

@@ragnarhenchbrok Honestly... stealing has really helped me to win out of the blue for not understanding much, lol! I just need 2 Megans and a Richie win and I managed to do everything else. I didn't know stealing loses points (Gained me tons of cash, lol). Anyway, I did mean the sets at the side... although I have started to create better hands since an hour ago - so I was before hand ending up with a single tile. However, if I did create sets and the game ends in a draw I get a fair amount of points rather than losing any. Btw can I only get a Richie by not stealing and concealing my hand? Seem harder than anything else so far to pull off... even altough the Ai does it with ease. Edit: Also I don't even know the differnce between pon or chi - I just thought they take a piece I need from another player either way. I just know if I see Ron I will win. ; D

@@WarriorOfTheHeavens I recommend not stealing tiles because you will get more points leading to mangan or haneman, which are the high point scoring ones, impressive that you did the other stuff congratulations, so click square every round aha you might have riichi without knowing, riichi just means you need 1 tile to win, what are you going for? sounds like you have lucked through a lot of it which is great but yeah what specifically do you need to get?

@@ragnarhenchbrok What I have left is: Go out with Riichi Ippatsu, Go out with Mangan 5 times (I have gone out with Mangan 3 times so I just need two more). I have done 4/6 Majong tasks. Sorry if my comments are confusing.

@@WarriorOfTheHeavens no worries so riichi ippatsu means once you call riichi, before the turn gets back to you you need to win which is pretty much Rng, but you can win with a ron or a Tsumo, so keep trying to get riichi and it will happen, the mangan will come with just playing but lack of stealing will help, the rng factor and stuff takes a long time sometimes so dont be disheartened all the 100% are similar in one way or another but you got this if you want it

yeah it is pretty aids unfortunately with the RNG but if you are getting Riichi you are close to winning for sure, its just pot luck really, I'd recommend trying the intermediate tables rather than easy ones, mixing it up, for some reason the easy tables generally go for a quick win which makes no sense to me, but yeah even try the hard tables as well, maybe it will help with the luck, but honestly I don't know the details of the game, I could only recommend reading or watching someone that actually knows the rules fully, I just kind of brute forced through it like I do with everything

Some versions of the game don't have numbers on the kanji style tiles, get a guide up with the numbers on as you play and it will make it a lot easier but having said that, it is a complex game so best of luck with it and thank you for the comment

@@user-cu8nk7mg2v Congratulations mahjong isnt easy so you did well. it is rng for a lot of it, baseball is tricky, just need to practice the timing until you get it, write down the speeds of the balls as they are pretty similar to help with your reactions, also for the very hard ones where the pointer disappears, put a dot on your screen or a little bit of sticky paper that way you can keep the accuracy

Hi I unfortunately don't have time currently for that with work life and other things going on, not been able to stream or make videos for a while either, Keep trying, if you get the basics you will win eventually, just a matter of perseverance, I lost a lottt when starting out, took a while to get a grasp on it but eventually it will sink in and RNG will be on your side, you do need to learn it for the other games too if you were planning on platinuming them, keep at it, you probably aren't as far off as you think you are

It can happen, RNG differs and on different table difficulties it varies, also changing the rules to 2 Han or Dora(can't remember which) minimum can stop the easy table being as quick to finish, hopefully the rng goes in your favour, if not I would go off and do some other minigames and come back to it and hopefully rng resets

@@ragnarhenchbrok I got the full straight last night, i cried in joy. never was intending to learn mahjong, but i now i kind of love it and hate it at the same time lol my advice to those that are having a hard time with that one is, first make sure you finish the other sets, and steal when there are straights that you need ex: 1-2-3, 4-5-6, 7-8-9. i stole 3 times in those exact sequences to get mine, and when performed correctly you will get a ron victory.

Yes if you press square if you are lucky it might pop up with riichi which means you are 1 tile from a winning hand, sometimes you won't notice so I just press it every round when it is your turn and hope for the best

Hey, nope not too dumb at all, takes time to understand this game, there is a lot to take in at the start, just keep watching guides and reading about it and should be fine, the very basics are getting 4 sets of 3 tiles (3 tiles can be all the same number like a triple in poker or 1,2,3 like a straight in poker) and then 1 set of 2 tiles (a pair in poker) - aim for that to start with and don't steal the tiles with pon and chi. It will slowly make sense after some time if you watch the hands, hope that helps a little

@@kutayctak3983 no problem happy to help where I can, it will take time as well as rng, always remember to press square every turn, if you see Riichi it means you are 1 tile away from a completed hand and the game will play automatically until you win lose or draw, good luck with the rest of the plat too

@@ragnarhenchbrok so you say that i shouldn't take other players' tiles. i should make the 1 pair and 4x3 tile hand with what game gives to me. is that right?

@@kutayctak3983 Correct because when you steal the tile with Pon and Chi your score goes down, and sometimes it is impossible to win if you steal too much and the hand isn't good enough, so it is safer to not steal at all, you can make an exception if you were looking at like a full straight or one of the special hands

Hi, Mangan is like a high score, I think haneman is the highest, so basically you get Dora at the end of the match when you win, if you don't use pon or chi, the Dora should be higher, if you get like a full straight or flushes or other decent hands, generally you will get Mangan or Haneman, I would take a look at cyricz written guide - link in the description he will explain it better in there for sure, good luck with the mahjong

@@SensualityMajestic187 a lot of people think it is impossible but you did it so congratulations, and a full straight I would advise every move goes towards a full straight, you can steal tiles to make it work for that one, takes some rng though, comes with time but you know what you are doing now which helps a ton, good luck with it

which part are you struggling with?

It's tricky to learn but the basics are to get 4 sets of 3 tiles (1,2,3 or 4,4,4) so a straight or a triple. and then 1 set of 2 tiles which is your double (2,2) , that is the basic way to win, there are 3 different types of tiles that go from 1-9 (dots, japanese writing and the green ones). Additionally there are direction tiles and dragon tiles but focus on getting a win first and then delve deeper into it, its like a japanese game incorporating poker rules in it (obviously loads more to it but its basically that), hope that helps and keep trying
