Christoph Eschenbach conduce a los músicos de la Sinfónica de Galicia por los fecundos y complicados vericuetos de esta partitura grandiosa, a veces profundamente paradójica. Todo está expresado, en mi opinón, en su justa medida: velocidad, ritmo, altura, profundidad, melodía y disonancias. El metal es magnífico, con músicos excelentes que se dejan dirigir hasta la perfección. El viento es aéreo, cósmico, acompaña el sentimiento del espíritu que recorre las esferas de la emoción sin detenerse en contradicciones inútiles. Todo fluye maravillosamente de los brazos, las manos y la mente de este grandísimo director que arrastra, como una pleamar imparable en sus acometidas y retiradas, la ejecución puntillosa de una orquesta entregada, perfectamente ensamblada, respetuosa con el alma de Mahler y también con su dicción exquisita y el contenido intelectual de altísimo nivel que nos transmite, desde los abismos del dolor a las cumbres del éxtasis. The success of this orchestra is due, to a great extent, to the job of Victor Pablo Pérez, its director for nearly 20 years. This performance conducted by Eschenbach is one of the best I have ever heard.

Persuasive performance of this magnificent symphony with silky sound of all the strings, mild sound of all the woodwinds and, above all, brilliant sound of al the brass. The experienced maestro directs the perfectly trained orchestra in a well-phrased tempo and with fully effective dynamics. Wonderful!

Wow! What an exemplary performance. I've always loved Eschenbach but he really cuts it here. He gets behind the music to where Mahler really dwells. I felt as if this was how Gustav himself would have performed it. What an orchestra this is now! Virtuosity in action. You took that crazy 2nd movement to where is should always go (but seldom does), with its faux-ending keeping us all waiting till the real finale. Bravo indeed!

I never understood Mahler's music until I read Mahler's Angel, by the writer Nuria L. De Santiago, a writer with soul, heart and race, who has been able to explain with clarity and a wonderful and powerful prose, the unknown and surprising life of the great composer. The initial impression is that Eschenbach is moving too much - too active. However, once you adopt the rhythmic cycle of his constant motion you find that he does some wonderful conducting, giving explicit and exact cues to the orchestra. They respond accordingly. A beautiful, live reading of this symphony/
