Mahlongwa River is next to eMabaleni and is located in Ugu District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Mahlongwa River has a length of 14.96 kilometres. On December 31 2023 Scottburgh experienced heavy rainfall and that resulted in the Mahlogwa River bursting open into the Indian Ocean. This all happened on the 1-January-2024. It starts with a small stream of river water but as sand starts to break the river mouth gets wider and wider resulting in a huge river flow into the sea.
