I love how they keep the transformation sequence short so it feels more practical and at the same time elaborate enough to make it pleasing to the eye.

@Shining Trapezohedron that or an actual sequel. It is implied Mikoto is the Mikoto from Mai-hime as she still has the hime mark. Same as M.I.Y.U. and Arika is a descendant of Alyssia Sears ( hence the golden Hair scenes ) and the final episode if you look at the otome star it has the symbol of the Sears foundation.

I like how every one of these is more or less a dance, except for Haruka and Shizuru, where they just look like they're about to tear you a new one.

it's nearly 2023 and I still love materialisations more than any other 'magical girl' transformations. there's just something to it that speaks to me even more than og sailor moon transformations (and I love og so much). idk, maybe the simplicity of it? but I just find them extremely beautiful. and the mewtiralisation? its so cute. now, I've been out of anime for like.. 4 years? I wonder if there are any similiar anime to Mai Otome/Hime out there?

Closest thing to them are the transformations in Symphogear (which were definitely inspired by Mai Otome, especially season 1).

I still think Mai Hime and Mai Otome don't get enough love. They are simple stories, but at the same time very deep stories about sacrifice, strength, and choice

But yeah, sadly the further we get from the 2000's, the less people want to go back to them and earlier to watch anime from those times. I tried to show one of my cousins kids early episodes of Pokemon and they were like "this looks so old, it's so weird!"

My otome is a pretty cool anime, if you have watched my hime, it is the same characters, but a new plot. We can say that's a magical girl anime, but a little less girlish (even if almost all the major characters are.. women ^^') An Otome is a women who must have a master and have to stay virgin to keep the capacity to materialize, it gives them superpowers. This is the history of arika, a girl who searches her mother and want to become an otome like her ^^ Sorry for the faults, i'm french ^^'

Really love this anime for the idea / world / design. Gems, Robes , The five columns such mix between technology and fantasy magical like power. Otomes the Powerful graceful female warrior with power of the entire country army. But the trade off for their power is that they have to stay virgin until they decide to retire Which make she who want to become Otome has to choose between Love or Dream. and when they die, their master-contractor(mostly king,queen ruler of that country) also die with them. which make all country don't go to wage war with each others so easily due to this consequence. Great power - Great responsibility Really hope they pickup this series and do a sequel or a reboot.With nowadays technology, the Transformation scene + Fight scene must be really awesome.

I liked it halfway through.. but I Favorited when I saw Meowterialize!!! LMAO I haven't seen all the episodes yet: THAT IS AWESOME!!! Must see. NOW. P.S. watching them materialize makes me feel like I'm watching the Gargoyles of Clan Wyvern awaken from stone sleep.. ^_^ P.S.S. SERIOUS badassery @ 1:54.. LOVE that woman.. *pant pant..* this anime brings out the Bi-curiousity in me.. XD
