After reading the comments I’m surprised with the notion that maids are still treated badly!! I have always seen in my family that when it’s my maid’s birthday, she is given a half day and money and gifts by my mom. Moreover, even during fasting periods, she is given fruits to eat! And when she starts with her periods suddenly while working, I have given her packets of fresh sanitary pads as well! It’s really important to treat your helpers which kindness! After all, they are humans first!

Good one.. with good respect for human value.. In many family I have seen such good relations with maid.. traditionally in India, maids are part of family. I can recall, we were calling our maid as Didi and strictly not by only name. Today also we still carry that good value. Our present maid is a Good Didi for my daughter.

I once had a lady sweeper who picked up garbage from our house every day but she was a decent woman, hardworking and sensitive and not greedy and disloyal like most servants. I quickly recognised that and appreciated her for her sincerity. I gave her 3 kids story books, drawing book, toys and games, old clothes and stationery along with other stuff I had kept safely since school days. The lady was very happy to receive clothes and her little daughter was very cute indeed. I really like giving such people who are needy and not greedy! We need to choose wisely whom to give and who too avoid as many people take advantage of others esp. servants who are thankless and take things from us without any gratitude and still misbehave.

Truthfully I am yet to see maids which treat people with respect , in my experience all just want more money n less work , n crib . In reality it's so difficult to get work done , I have a maid for elderly parents who stay by themselves , but even after changing 3 maids , Iam yet to find one who treats them as her parents .even though my mom , is friendly with them
