Good job. Your dog still lives. My son is a mailman, and they can refuse to deliver your mail if you insist on having the dog loose outside at delivery time. He's paid to deliver your mail, not to get bitten or possibly mauled.

@@firstthings_first9828 Don't underestimate puppies or small dogs. Even though they might have a small bite force, they could be infected with rabies or some other deadly disease. You could just experience a little nip and then just ignore it. You won't even realize the danger you are in until the symptoms of rabies kick in. By then, it's too late and the damage is irreversible and you end up dead, just like the movie Cujo.

@@GymmyRhys Postal workers actually do have a right to defend themselves. They also have the right to refuse service. Pepper spray can be purchased and used in every state. If you're not from this country and don't know the laws then you really shouldn't comment.

I've never been attacked by a dog before, but some idiot let his 100+ lb dog off a leash and it instantly charged me and came within an inch of biting me. I think because I stood my ground it backed down at the last millisecond but that situation could have ended so unbelievably bad in so many ways.

Some dog have to learn the hard way not to attack people. Besides it's not like the pepper spray is going to kill the dog. The spray is just going to help teach the dog not to attack people. Some dogs only learn the hard way. If I was the owner I would not even get made I probably would have laughed because I know my dog would eventually learn not to attack the mail man. Don't get me wrong I'll stick up for my dog if the dog is right, but in this case the dog was wrong.

@@IslemIsGey I train my dog, when I say sit they sit. When I tell them to attack they attack, when I tell them to stop they stop. Every now and they don't listen and they pay for it. @@ripandtear I know pepper spray doesn't magically disappear after spraying. I just didn't think the fumes of the spray would be enough to stop a determined dog from attacking. After all, some dogs keep attacking even after getting sprayed directly in the face several times.

You simply put the box on the fence line, or you don’t get mail. Putting mail anywhere other than the mailbox is a no-no, if a carrier is just dropping mail that sloppy and lazy. There are regulations you can easily access to see how this situation is properly handled. In this instance the carrier is in the wrong by entering a yard he knows a dangerous dog is in.
