Very very cool haul. I love that there are so many new little microcontroller boards. Hard to keep them all straight but I'm glad they exist. That exact microstepper driver is inside a lot of the laser cutters. Especially the ones with the ability to take a rotary for doing tumblers etc. I may need to get one of those. And I obviously can't wait to see what you do with the card edges.

Would like to play with a card edge connector that will fit the 5cm side of an FR4 protoboard. They seem to be plated there to fit.

Though hard to find, I like the springy-style shaft-2-stepper connectors that have the circumferential tightening, like yours. Makes the retraction movement less violent on a bed-slinger. Also more forgiving of a nozzle crash.

I don’t understand the push to move to ESP32. Unless you need a lot of I/O pins, the ESP8266 MCU’s work quite well for home use.

Sometimes a 555 will also do the job. One of the main things that made it mandatory to go to dual core was when needing to do to resource intensive things like Wi-Fi along with audio playback. The 8266 was unable to play smooth audio. For the single core, having the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi may be useful and also it may be good to have hardware that supports a more recent architecture in case the older one goes obsolete suddenly.
