Main Bhi Bharat - Tribes of Assam: Tea Garden tribe | असम के आदिवासी: टी गार्डन ट्राइब

In this episode we bring to you stories about the tea tribes of Assam. Main Bhi Bharat team travelled to the tea gardens of Kokrajhar to know more about these tribes. These people belong to various tribes like Santhal, Munda, Kharia and were brought to Assam to work in tea gardens in early 19th century.
These tribals in other states like Jharkhand and West Bengal have got ST status but in Assam this status is not extended to these tribes. We try to understand various issues related to their livelihood and identity.

I also belongs to Tea Garden, I request to state govt & centre govt kindly focus on tea industry because in whole country minimum wages is nothing less than tea sector only 126 rupees it is not enough to survive in present time for theirs life & our life also. If Tea Garden owner, state govt & centre govt really wanted the solution of tea garden problem so as soon take action for tea industry future in (West Bengal & Assam). Again I request to the state govt & centre govt kindly focus on tea garden laborers problems. Jai hind jai Bharat 🙏🙏

भारत सरकार को कम से कम चाय बगान में काम कर रहे मजदूरों को उनकी न्यनतम मजदूरी दिलाना चाहिए जो हक है उनका ! आदिवासियों के हितों की रक्षा उनके बच्चों का भविष्य अनिवार्य शिक्षा में है जो अधिकार है उनका! सभी राज्यों के आदिवासियों को आरक्षण का भी सही लाभ मिले ये सुनिश्चित किया जाना चाहिए!

All I observe is ..They haven't a representative.. who adress them aur unki awaj bne.. as well as they need recognition .. isse kya fark pdta h.. ki koi ek tribe nhi h..They all deserve a better life.. *strict laws should be made for tea bagan owners .. * per day salary should be increased * proper education and habitat infrastructure should be provided *other work /skills should be provided ..(so ensured to make extra money for better livlihood ) for this all they need a good reprasentive ...Sab ek din me ni hoga .. pr khi se shuruat to krni padegi .. s

Several writings states that at the time British started the tea plantations, they brought laborers from Orissa (Odisha) province.- they were not locals. Because of the slave like conditions that prevailed, locals and Bengalees refused to work in the tea plantations at that time..

Because Britishers were obsessed with tea and they were back then importing tea from china. So they wanted to make large production in Assam so to minimise their reliability from china. Later they took hongkong for 100 years just for tea production.🙏
