Last 3 penalties we conceded are never a pen BUT they're self inflicted (excluding Antony's tackle against Chelsea). 3 games we should have won in one week is absolutely mind blowing. These defenders have to be smarter

I think the first two were soft.... I general we're getting soft calls against us and when it's the other way we're not getting them. Today's pen.... was one ultimately bought but it was a silly challenge in how aggressive it was. TBH this entire season is one where we've not got decisions, we've had players injured at crucial parts of the year..... we've missed chances, we've misplaced passes or not made simple ones..... the whole thing is a bit of a 35% season when if it were 50% we'd be right up there..... anything above we'd be challenging. I just hope the management of the club sees that. We sign the players we need, and with a little shift in luck, injuries and decisions the entire year is different.

We weren't SUPPOSED to win those games. Against Brentford to be fair even a draw was a smash the way the match went, we didn't deserve to win either against Chelsea nor today but somehow we nearly did ( as we've been the whole season tbf) .

Ten Hag is the manager for us, our best players this season have been our young players and that’s cos they are coachable and Ten Hag is one of the very best at developing youth. Keep him long term and he’ll build an amazing team for sure.

You're spot on about the penalty situation. There should be a point at which a referee says this guy is tripping over him on purpose, that's not a penalty. Unfortunately that rarely happens nowadays and we'll certainly never get those decisions in our favor.

Why doesnt ETH ever bring on Amad and Eriksen when he takes off mainoo and Garnacho? Eriksen provides retention and Amad is very similar to Garnacho and bringing him on adds pressure to our opponents defenders.

I get they scored first but the fact we manage to come back and lead the game like we did at chelsea. I'm disappointed we didn't come away with 3 points. There was a moment in the game against Chelsea where Case was 2/3 yards closer to the ball then his opponent while being 10 yards away from the ball and still got beaten to it. I don't know what's happened, I didn't think such rapid physical decline was possible.

The academy players are showing more desire and commitment this season than the regular first teamers. Amad, Garnacho, Kobbie and now Willy, all have stepped up whenever called upon. Instead of spending big next summer, United should focus more on nourishing these talents.

Yes, I think you're right. One of the good things Arteta did was picked the top youth talent and then bought around them in order to build. I feel like that's what we need to do now. Bring in youth and then buy players to fill gaps where youth players aren't good enough/aren't ready yet.

Mainoo what a shame he got injured at pre season if he starts the season we are not 6th. He gives the whole team a lift and more confidence to try and play out. More experience for Big Willy and he impressed each time. Spider was so unlucky with his tackle he very rarely misses one. We’ve took two toys off the dippers if pop goons do their bit.

Couldn’t convince me Casemiro isn’t either completely done OR betting on our opposition. Never seen a pro almost intentionally give the ball away or go in with head gone in open space, ignoring cut backs, giving 20 yards space to his man…as much in one match. Thankfully Mount and Bruno were covering well. Also Hojilund is getting molested elbow deep by every CB pairing but we are getting called for every delicate touch anywhere in or near final 3rd. Ridiculous

Our defense looked better today than it did most of the season. Probably because Kambwala allowed us to play a slightly higher line. I can't wait to see him alongside Martinez. That partnership could be the first step to fixing the gaping hole between midfield and defense.

We struggle to play from the back and as a result give up possession more easily. If we can fix that - more poise and quick CDMs - perhaps a younger version of Casameiro and we are fighting for the title

Agree with the pen issue you brought up. Kinda like the infamous Lucas Neil incident at the world cup against Italy, if you slide laterally and not at the player and the player moves his body to fall into you I don't believe that should be a pen

Cant agree more with pretty much everything you said. Before the game i also saw one result, us getting embarrassed. When we had the lead i could smell it so bad that the draw i would have taken before kickoff now feels like a loss. One thing is for certain, one lesson i take from each game. Our players ain`t as bad as we would like to make em out to be. There pretty good quality there.

It seems that Kambwala is possibly a UTD player, as well as Mainoo, and as there is nobody else fit... Right up to the last minute the game could have been lost, but yes, the expected thrashing was avoided with just the worry over Rashford. I was just glad to see that the selection was up for it against better opponents. Only one point in two games but periods of resilience and buds of quality showing in both. OK. No more Big Six'ers left, but no chickens to be counted this wtf season: Bournemouth and Newcastle - the next two - each beat UTD 0-3 recently. FA Cup and avoiding the Euro Conference things is an aim!

Agreed. Offer me a draw before kick off and I would have taken it. I thought G.Nev and Carragher put their finger right on the problem of the edge of the box pull back, a weird combination of zonal and man to man marking in defence. This is a coaching problem and can be addressed. Kambwala excellent, Dalot excellent, Mainoo... God tier goal and Bruno's not far behind. Again penalties stuff us, except in this case it was a nailed on penalty by today's standards, but I agree with your analysis of it Ste. Good performance overall and a bit disappointed with the final result, but we know now that top 4 is gone, top 5 marginal, so I'll call it as we'll finish 6th and look forward to European football on Thursday nights. I'll take that as a revenue stream to aid our spending in the summer. I am feeling a bit more positive than I did on Thursday after that debacle last Thursday night.

I'm not sure why Antony is getting stick when the Amrabat substitution was the one that didn't make sense - Passenger in midfield at best. We shouldn't be making him a permanent signing.

Going back to matter of the "Cut Back Goals," the factors behind that issue are now being compounded by the risk of giving away penalties. Mainoo's ability to collect the ball with his back to goal and turn into space is going to cause issues for Ten Hag. That skill he has makes him ideal as a means to beat the press, but when you look at what he did yesterday, you want him further up the field. A LOT further up the field... I'm in two minds over the penalty thing. It WAS soft, (very soft) but there are ocassionally situations where a defender dives in, two feet flat, studs showing, at someones knees, and the players options are to either take a studs up kick to the knees, (risking long term injury) or... dive out of the way of a potentially bad injury. In THAT situation, i.e. avoiding what is essentially assault... is it simulation? And because there was "No contact" should the defender get away with with such a dangerous tackle that was clearly made with the intent of hurting the player? I'm not saying that was the case yesterday, that's not in Wan Bissaka's locker, but the principle is worth thinking about.

Man, the only thing I can't understand is why the manager is chosen to defend while the team is leading and in a good mood? When you defend the opponent team, keep striking the more they try, they will create chances penalty, goals... we need to push attacking while we had the momentum, I guess it has been crazy the last to game. WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO HONESTLY.

I like AWB but Elliot went across the area hoping someone would stick a leg out , I don't think there was any immediate danger . The way Elliot was heading , he was looking for a leg which he found and then proceeded to plunge over it ................the nearest thing to a dive but now always given as a penalty . But they all do it nowadays .

Yeah, that was an unfortunate mistake on AWB's part, and I was initially pissed he did that. But considering how well he always plays, it's an error you have to go easy on him for and hope he never repeats.

While we do need a Casemiro like central midfielder who can play that holding role, I don't want signings that would replace Garnacho or Mainoo in the team, hopefully they get the game time needed to progress in the next few years.

Thats a forward, a midfielder and defender in place going forward to create a youthful team that could have years at United. Look what SAF did with the class of '92. You have to build a team with young, hungry and spirited players, not rely on big names commanding big paydays to have longevity.

Appreciation for Antony, Kambwala today. Rashford was also sending in some crosses that nobody wanted to get on the end of. Mainoo Starboy as per the usual. I'll take the draw but it was a winnable game tbh. Casemiro with the horrible passes throughout the game needs to be addressed tho.

I think INEOS will bring in new coaches into ETH coaching team. SAF passed on much of the tactical side to his coaches, Quieroz/Rene I could envision something similar for Ten Hag.

Kobbie “the Main man” Mainoo is part of a group of youngsters coming through. The class of 2024? Maybe. Been a long time since United has had an elite group of youngsters all coming through at the same time. Well, we know about Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad. Kambwala might be another, but much, much too early to say. To those who watch the United youth teams, are there any others who could really make it, we should look out for?

IF ETH was to go, when is the best time? as soon as the season finishes I guess, you'd want him in all summer, but he wouldn't get to meet players to they return for training. Though again, I guess the new system won't use the manager as much to decide who we sign.

We concede so many shots and teams spend too much time in our box, Bruno and Casemiro are so poor in possession, so goals and penalties are expected and this has been happening all season. This style of play will not take us anywhere. Big teams don't play this way.

Our intensity in that game was far better. There is some hope for us but we are short in a few positions. Kambala and Mainoo were superb. Great goal Kobbie. Glad Nunes is such a bad finisher. I’m happy with the draw after all that.

Rashford is an expert at dragging his leg to initiate contact inside the box just like Elliot did. They are tons of examples of Rashford getting a pen for doing it.

Yup. That was an acceptable performance, specifically because Liverpool is the better team right now. I take a draw here, and I'm good. One more point than I realistically thought United would get.

The past two pens given against us have been heavily swayed by simulation being more than the actual challenge. Happens all the time but these two were horrible to take
