This is the main obstacle for whom are trying to keep the practice and percepts in ordinary living, May all be success in their practice 🙏☘️

When I started to keep the 5 precepts, I started to see who in my life is a true friend. Metta practice has helped me cultivate patience with those who cannot respect my practice, even when I had to be firm.

If your question is aimed at me I will answer: Any noticed progress is just one more thought in a line of thoughts. Tell me, how you or anyone would distinguish one thought from another? How do you compare/contrast your thoughts?....with more thought...lmao! It, (buddhism), is a great method for focusing and relaxing the mind and body. Nothing more. PS: I still keep 5, sometimes 8 precepts but these are for the health of the body more than anything.

The timing on this video. I'll be visiting my best friend of over 30 years soon and he doesn't know anything about my practice (We only see each other once every few years or so anymore) While I'm there, I'm going to be drinking even though it's the last thing I want to do. I abandoned sensuality, I practice sense restraint, I spend hours in jhana everyday but for the week I go see this guy I'm going to go back to being the buddy he's known all his life.

Hope you have the strength to discuss this with him. He may surprise you in his reaction. You may find another activity as a way of spending time

Last night I was on day 74 without alcohol, but I was with a group of friends I usually drink with. The temptation and pressure was strong. Woke up today to day 75 of restraint with regards to the 5th precept. Hold strong mate, the feeling of inner strength you get from renunciation is far more enjoyable than any temporary drunken high 💪

Going on 5 years of daily practice. Not much to say except it is all pointless. Any perceived progress is just more mind made nonsense.

Sounds like Westernized pseudo-zen fluff. If you don't see any progress, you are doing it wrong.
