I work for a Cat dealership. Take oil samples, if they come back clean, don't change the oil. Change filters regularly, but no need to change oil as long as samples come back clean.

Yes... absolutely true. IF you dont have your oil analyzed you should really look into it. the price where I send mine in Ft. Wayne, In are very reasonable. with oil especially all synthetic oil on the rise.... pull sample, mail it in, with one week results back, oil good, change filter, if oil is bad change both and investigate reason for. Bottom line... Low priced maintence.

I wait eagerly for each new video. Here, or on Mrs Larson's channel (Chet's mom, not Jean, I don't think she has a channel yet) I follow several different farming families from coast to coast and north to south. No other farm keeps their equipment as well maintained, and as clean as the Larsons. That tells me that in every aspect of life they take pride in everything they do. Keep it up!! ♥️🚜🇺🇸🤍🚜🇺🇸💙🚜🇺🇸

If the battery is to weak to rotate the engine at the proper RPM, be sure to charge it on a battery charger. that's what there for. To cause an early death of the alternator, try charging the dead battery with it!

Was watching your video on changing the filters on your excavator when you pull the cover off the return filter for the tank it’s not uncommon to see Oil sitting on top of that cap It usually means the seals might be leaking but in your video it look like you’re missing a plug in the top of that plate. You might want to check that. I think you guys did a pretty good job for never working on that before.also a good way to check real quick If your ECM is not working on a truck engine is to just by watching the dash to see if there’s an engine RPMs while you’re cranking should show 200 rpm or so and the dash receives that information from the engine, ECM

Thanks for another great video Chet. It was most interesting. That digger you have take a bit to change the hydraulic oil in it. Quite a few filters and hard to access areas. Believe you said 36 gals of hydraulic oil to replace-wow. Amazing some of these machines. I hope they can figure out the big oil leak on Air Force one. Hopefully it is an item under warranty. See what next week brings for it. I hope all of you have fun on your snowmobiling trip out west. The one you did last year was lots of fun. Safe journey all of you. Getting some of your shop jobs done and moved out it seems. Waiting on parts for a few of them I believe. About it I guess. Thanks for everything Chet and crew. You all take care and be safe. Hydro don’t go bad like engine oil take a oil sample and every time you change the filter you put on a higher micron rating so it cleans the oil more and more every time you change the filter it should tell you in the book how often it should be changed I would say 9k hrs is way past due
@Tylerscummins
@Tylerscummins 5 ай бұрын
Little different but we run 1300-5000 horse power engines in the oil field with a big day tank full of oil that constantly maintains the oil level. So if you have a leak or they use some oil they dont run out. i have engines i haven’t changed oil in for 2 and half years and they run 24/7 aside from maintenance or a shut down. We throw new filters in it every 2150 hours and run the valves. And take oil samples. Fire them back up. They are also Natural gas engines. Not Diesel. So that makes a large difference. But im sure i have units with 10,000 plus hours on the oil.
