It is important to maintain your door whether it's you previously or composite.
At least twice a year clean the locking mechanism on the door and the door frame and oil with a decent quality oil that is quite thick rather than anything too thin like WD40 As this will dry up and wear off too quickly.
Use the same type of oil on any other metal or moving parts like the hinges and letterbox.
