I’m using a crochet baby hat to demonstrate my method of attaching pom poms to my hats. You can find the video tutorial and free written pattern for this baby hat below:

IMPORTANT: If attaching the pom pom to a baby hat, make sure that you make several knots, ensuring that they are very tight. Also, check the pom pom once in a while, especially after washes, to make sure that it has not loosened.

Hello Amanda! Thank you so much for your AMAZING videos....I love them ....please keep them coming...:). So I made the PomPom and followed your tutorial - but I must have missed something as I did not end up with the two tails that you are showing on this video. I have done a 'hack' of my pompom buy adding a string of yarn around my pompom and it's hidden and I"ve double knotted it so that I can finish my baby hat. Would you mind explaining where/how to leave those strings on the pompom? Thank you!

Hi Kathy, you're so welcome- I'm glad that you found the tutorial helpful! 😃 Re the strings, when you cut a piece of yarn to wrap around the pom pom to secure it, make sure that you cut a fairly lengthy amount so you have enough hanging down to attach to your hat or other item 🌷

I love these little hats, I'm still learning and I've made two of the little cardigans, a lady wants me to make two, so I'm wondering do I wash them before I give them or do you give as is once knitted? ❤❤

It’s up to you… you may want to consider washing them if there are pets, smoke, strong scents in your home. It’s also a good idea to store your work-in-progress in zip lock plastic bags to keep them clean. That’s great you’ve made two of the little cardigans already! Enjoy working up the matching hats too 💞

Thanks Amanda, no smoking, a little shih tzu, clean home and I have got my wool on sealed boxes and the large zip bags are fab to put them in when finished ❤❤
