Mai,great decluttering session. I have a tip for you. Just in case you move in the future, and you sell your house, you should keep the extra refrigerator shelves, if the refrigerator will stay with the house. Everyone organizes their refrigerator differently, or if you accidentally break one, you have a spare. I hear they are very expensive to replace.

Definitely a good idea. She can use the extra empty shelf in the laundry room to store those shelves.

Those shelves look adjustable....you could move them around to fit your taller items (boots, that bin you put on the top shelf, etc), if you wanted.

You also may be able to shift the spine over to a part of the wall that doesn’t have a stud if you use anchors. The butterfly (I think that’s what they’re called) spring loaded guys. They offer a ton of stability

I love the laundry sheets! My mother uses thredup to sell clothes, shoes and bags online. You request a Clean Out Kit and they send you a physical bag with a prepaid shipping label. You fill the bag, seal it and send it back to them. They will give you money based on consignment as it sells. You can also do it for kids clothing! 😁

I think your wire shelves are upside down. I think that lip is supposed to face down. Hardware stores also sell and attachment that goes into the wall for the sides that holds the side parts steady. It can just go into the drywall it doesn't have to go into a stud. I have the same ones at my house

I sell to ThredUp when I'm decluttering minimally worn clothes. Much much simpler than individually dealing with items. I'd estimate that I've made ~$3 per item sent (occasionally much more for brands like Coach, sometimes $0 a.k.a. forwarded straight to donation); not a ton, but on the other hand, you passively build credit to withdrawal or spend. 🤑

Ditto. Better to use ThredUP for mostly getting rid of items and getting the $5 store credit.

Binge watching your channel because I just discovered it. Love your real common sense approach. I don’t feel like your trying to be cookie cutter. Different matching washer/dryer for practicality vs aesthetics that is 👍 in my book. I love the way you show footage of spilling the detergent while pouring. The videos I have viewed so far makes me feel like I’m watching a friend, they just have a cozy “homey” comfort or relaxing feel that I enjoy watching. Thank you for sharing

Make a promise to yourself to not spend any more money on any cleaning/laundry products until you use everything up. I also suggest you keep your cleaning supplies where you use them....ex: bathroom/kitchen. I know when people have big houses or lots of storage space they always think they need to fill them up. Less is more..... :-) Always always love watching you declutter Mai!!!!!!

I agree with you about the newer dryers and washers. The old ones ran because they didn't have all the fancy stuff on them or electronics. They just had the basics. I still have a GE with turn dials and it is 21 years old this labor day. We bought it when we built our house. It is still running with no problems whatsoever. I don't know when it is going to go kaput on us. But it keeps rolling along. I have replaced a washer that was a front loader since we have moved but now I have a Maytag commercial washer and it is an HE and is still running after 7 years. It is a turn dial also. I love it because it is so quiet.

You might want to use a label maker and use a pretty font and label everything you have in all your bins. Then you’ll know which one holds whatever. It will make finding things sooooo much easier and less frustrating for you.

I just found your channel and I love it! Thank you so much!! When you consolidate liquid laundry detergent, most bottles allow you to pull the white spout out of the mouth of the bottle to make it easier to get to every last drop of the cleaner. If it’s hard to get a grip on it, you can use pliers.

Great video, For metal wire shelves, have you thought about readjusting them so you can bring that top cleaner bin down and also stand the hubby's shoes up? Also you can use the 3M command hooks on the ends of those shelves to help support them a little better and they will not sag/list at the ends. I hope this helps and great job!

Thanks for another fun cleaning & organizing video. I love the Kon Mai Method. Good luck with the washing machine return. I bought a top-load LG a couple of years ago and it works great. LG's overall reviews are hit and miss, but it seems to be that way with most major household appliances. Keep us posted. By the way... around Labor Day is a great time to by a washing machine. There are usually a lot of good deals and sales around that time.

If you use fabric softeners or dryer sheets you need to wash your lint tray with dish soap and water. Fabric softeners leave a waxy build up you can't see and it causes poor airflow which chokes for dryer out. The way to test if you need to wash it is by runing water on your lint tray if it doesn't run threw it and puddles up then you have the waxy buildup. After washing it with soap and water the water should run through it. Dry off the tray before replacing and resume drying.

I did my entire house with Konmari method. If I may make a suggestion, put laundry detergent, softener, bleach in a clear container so you can see exactly how much you have left. By the way she also says in her 2nd book that the second question is does it help me accomplish a task that sparks joy. Example laundry detergent cleans my clothes and that task gives me joy

Hi! (New subscriber) I’m currently binge watching all of your videos and and wanted to second or third what others are saying about donating and selling shoes, purses, clothes - thred up and Mercari are the go to’s I’d recommend. Mercari you post and ship yourself when it sells. ThredUp you ship a box of your stuff. They photograph and list it then pay you when it sells. When / if items don’t sell they will donate them or return them to you for a small shipping fee. I always choose to donate but found that quality items sell quickly. And - Love your content ❤️

Have you considered turning your wire shelves right side up? If you flip them over then your bins of items can be easily slid out almost like a drawer. Also, closetmaid makes an end bracket that is intended to support the end of the shelve from the perpendicular wall. We have them in our laundry and they work well.

Hey Mai, I used Poshmark briefly, but after a while got tired of having to ship everything and also how much of a cut they take on each sale. Now I just sold locally using Kijiji or Varage Sale (which I think may e only be Canadian). My other suggestion is that you put together a cleaning tote that you carry around that has a handle that has like glass cleaner multipurpose cleaner etc, and then that way you have one caboodle that carries all your stuff to every room that you need to clean or you can have multiple (like one on each level) saves time so you don't need to keep running back to your closet to grab more cleaning supplies!

I noticed something lately with a lot of parents complaining about loud toys. Do they not do the downstairs( basement play room), outside or in your room rule with loud noises? It's a rule my mom had for me growing up as a kid with adhd where my whole life was constant noise. It's a way parents can get quietly and kids can still be kids.

We are a military family and flags SHOULD be burned. Note: If your flag is made from nylon or polyester, (which it probably is) do not burn it. The smoke will contain dangerous chemicals that could harm your lungs. Instead, consider taking it to a donation center or burying it. A safer alternative to burning the flag is to donate it to your local government or other organization that accepts them (VFW post etc) PoshMark is amazing for higher end items. I do very well on it. I tried Mecari, but that was a fail for me. Also, I find that consignment stores are a great way to get stuff out quicker and then no mailing involved. I drop stuff off and pick up money :-)

I sell old clothes and shoes on thredup. They send you a bag and you fill it and ship it away. Poshmark was good too. You list your own items and package and print out a label and ship it. All those extras you have you should take to your Air bnb. Not sure if you let people use your washer and dryer at the air bnb but that would be nice to offer detergent and dryer sheets.

You might want to have an electrician come in and add an extra outlet or two to the laundry room so you don't have to have that extension cord. Also have him bring your tv outlets up to the level behind the tvs so you're not hiding the cords with that cord keeper. Both will make things cleaner looking and more user-friendly.
