Hey Y'all!
I wanted to share my thoughts on this super reasonable vanishing point dupe from Majohn. I have been using it since filming this video and have really been enjoying it. It does feel a bit more medium to me in the nib, but is hasn't given me any problems. I am SUPER loving my Sailor pen. The 'feedback' that everyone talks about is sooo enjoyable. You can find links to both pens below. Thanks so much for watching!

Hi Ali. DeAtrementis inks are wetter than most inks (something to do with their lubrication formula). That could be giving you a thicker line. My suggestion, try the Lexington grey ink you have. The line will be thinner. The extra fine will never be like the Japanese extra fine, but you will notice a change in line width with different inks. (I’m using Lamy blue black ink and the ink is giving a thinner line). Hope that the change in ink helps you achieve the finer line width to use it in the planners with the smaller grid sizes. Waiting to see the A6 setup…🙂

I have a Pilot Vanishing Point flat black and I love it so much. I use the same ink also. It's so crazy how much our personalities and interests are the same!

Thanks for the video Ali….i’ve always wanted a VP, so this being a less expensive option - is the best…already in my cart on amazon.

I’ve brought this pen twice but they both ended up having the same problem, even though when freshly inked it wrote beautifully it didn’t seal properly and the nib would dry out in a few hours and wouldn’t write. I’m contemplating giving it one more shot and buying another because it really is a beautiful writing experience

Oh wow! Thank you for the feedback! I have heard this issue before in both the Majohn AND the Pilot. The 'door' on this one seems to be working fine. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Thank you for sharing and being here! 💛

Oooh I think I have a little Amazon credit that I could use towards that pen. I think I’d like it. I hope you don’t mind an off topic question. I have been feeling such a strong pull lately to God. I recently bought a Bible but had a hard time picking a version. I finally just went for the NKJV because I figured somewhere down the line I’d buy others to read as well. What version would you recommend to someone looking for their first Bible?

Hi there! I LOVE these kind of questions! My husband and I are pastors and we always tell people to get a version that you ENJOY...so you will keep reading. That said, there's lots to be said about translations and some major mishaps in phrasing that have happened. I personally use the NASB 1995 -- not the recent one. It is a super literal translation. Word for word instead of thought for thought. ESV is close to the NASB 1995 but reads a little smoother. My husband has been recommending The Legacy Standard translation now that it's come out. He LOVES that one. I haven't read that one myself, but he researches to make sure the translation is sound and WHO are the people translating. That probably was clear as mud but here's the truth...The Lord WILL speak to you through whatever translation you are reading. The LIVING Word, Jesus, wants to encounter you as you read His written Word. My biggest encouragement would be to just talk to God as you are reading His Word. Read for the nourishment and sustenance it provides with expectation that He will speak to you exactly what you need for this season of your life. It happens for me EVERY DAY. I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading my Bible! Bless you as you seek His heart. Your hunger to draw near makes Him smile BIG!!! xoxo

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful reply to my question. I am a catholic school girl who has always been a believer but lately I just really feel Him by my side. I feel Him when things are going good and I feel His most loving support when things aren’t so great. I am so grateful for all things His blessings. As I have been feeling this tug closer to Him I am noticing that so many people are feeling the same. It makes my heart feel so good when I see someone speak they feel what I feel. I think I am going to dive into the NKJV that I purchased and see how it goes. I have my highlighters at the ready to highlight the things that speak to me. I am also going to use the Majohn A1 (gotta love that Amazon prime) that was delivered to my front door this morning to write down the versions you and your husband like and recommend. Thank you again Ali. Wishing for you a blessed today and a blessed every day to come. 😘

I have the larger vanishing point & wish I would have gotten a fine nib instead of a medium - that gold nib is just so soft & juicy that I’m constantly having to fill that teeny tiny cartridge. It’s so pleasant to use from a sensory perspective, but the line is SO think. So maybe I’ll try the extra fine in this option… hard not to find the $ in my budget at that price point.

I think what i like most about the A1 and A2 models is that they fit the pilot nib units. So I have 2 vanishing points and then 5 more of the Moonman/Majohn models (I have 4 A2s) in colors I couldn't find in the VP and most of them have Pilot nib units. The Moonman nib units are perfectly fine, but I like a true EF.

Do you find that the EF Pilot is ‘scratchy?’
@taccora
@taccora 6 ай бұрын
@@AliBrownie Not at all. It's smooth and (for me) quite wet. As such I find it broader than I was expecting from a Japanese manufacturer. The Moonman nibs on the dupe are inconsistent, but generally I find their EF's to be more like a Fine. The Pilot EF's are thinner, in general, than what the Moonman offers.

The Majohn has an A1 and A2. What is the difference? 🤔 I've been intrigued by the vanishing point, but couldn't dive in based on the price. This sounds like a great option, but I'm not sure which is what on the A1 v. A2 selection.😊

The A1 is like the standard vp and the A2 is like the decimo - slimmer and lighter. I have both and enjoy writing with both. Have not experienced any of the issues other ppl have mentioned abt the nibs drying out. If ur used to the a1, u may feel like the a2 is toylike bc of the lighter weight but conversely, this makes it easier to write with for long journaling sessions. Also the a2 comes in lots of great colors

@weit5272 Thank you for your great explanation. I'm 72 years old, and back in the day, we had some very simple and somewhat 'rough' fountain pens. I'm enjoying the resurgence of them, but I have so much to learn about all the wonderful pens of today. I do love using them, however, as I did in the 'old days'. Thanks again for your help.❤️
