Kudos for drifting back to accessible pens. Fun review!

I just finished getting the ink to come forth on mine. I bought this for myself and I am way too close to poverty to spend $20 on a pen, but I was enchanted by the pictures and I just had to. The ink went in safely, the ink came out after I twisted the nib a tiny bit and it write VERY nicely. Thank for you making this video to verify I am doing it correctly!

A fun pen! My Q1 Fine nib pen has such a smooth nib! LOL I always have to dip the nib/feed so I can start right away with my eyedropper fountain pens! :) I have no patience for waiting on ink flow. When I put Monteverde Purple Reign in my Q1 it wrote so great ... I had it inked over a year and the ink flow was awesome. I have much more expensive pens that don't write that well.

I had a Q1 loaded up with a nice bright red-orange that lived in a little dish on my desk for years, for random Important Notes. It made me happy every time I used it.

I have the clear and green of these! I managed to get the clear one before the brand name changed so it’s a lil chubster with MOONMAN all over it; very spacey! I love writing and drawing with them, so comfortable and smooth. Thanks for the video!

I turned my Pilot 78G into an eye dropper pen but I added some silicone grease around the threads area. I think it helps & maybe help with leakage is what I thought I heard the Goulet Pens folks say. Yup, I will be adding it to my fun collection. 😄

Hello HJ! That Majohn pen is quite interesting! Have never owned a eye-dropper pen. I do have two Majohn pens, though. They are both the A-2 model, which are clones of a Pilot Vanishing Point. I wanted to try the format, before spending the dough on an actual Pilot. Like many others, I was concerned that the clip would be such a bother while writing, but, as you also found, it actually provides a place to rest your fingers on, and helps one keep from twisting the pen while writing. Your wife should LOVE that cool little clear Majohn! Especially with that fine nib! A little tip. . .every time I buy one of these Chinese pens, I rinse it out good, and most of the time, I get some ink residue when doing that. Whether they test them at the factory or what it is I don't know, but I always give them a good flush out.

Hmm. I've seen the Q1 advertised, and am glad to see you review it. Cute; but I still am glad that I have the S5 (since it was Moonman!) for a nice clear acrylic eyedropper. A word about eyedropper, or for that matter, piston-fill systems: the idea appeals more than the practice for me, since I love changing pens and inks so often in my rotation. Thanks as ever!

I'm intrigued. I'd buy one! It should have a fat nib just like the pink Platinum though. I like the ink you put in it. I imagine the pen would look really awesome with a shimmery ink in there! Kind of like a snow globe! Side note, you inspired me to add a small top ring bound notebook to my notebook collection 😄. I was able to find a tiny notebook at Daiso and it has pretty decent paper (no bleed through)! I'm enjoying it!

I bought this pen today to use with a bluedew flex nib I purchased I'm hoping the big ink capacity will help with the massive flow needed for flex pen. Thank you for this review - mine cost me AUD $25 which included delivery. I haven't used an eyedropper before so I am looking forward to it - thanks for the review.

I have been using one for the last couple of months. It is funny, for sure; but works pretty well. And if you use burgundy or terracota ink, the barrel reminds you of a glass of wine. Very charming. A real pleasure, considering the price.

I have 4 transparent of these. One in every nib and an extra one in fine for posterity. I love them! They are confirmable in my hand when I am feeling arthritic and very easy to write with. It is a long term pen for me. I also bought a Superlegga (?) by Stipula in a bent nib. I much prefer the Majahn.

Don't have one but will soon. Ordered two after seeing your video. Like it for a "pocket pen". Love the more inexpensive pens to leave laying out for others to try a fountain pen but I won't be out much if they destroy it. How about a video on your recommendations for inexpensive inks?

I love this review, and the pen looks like it'd be a lot of fun. In the spirit of not "fat shaming," I may pick one up just to plant an herb in! The world needs more humor, and this pen fills that niche for me.

This is one of the first pens I purchased and I absolutely love it. One of my favorites. It was a surprise for me too, because I didn't expect much from it, but liked the look of it. Actually, it is the most comfortable pen to hold. I have a small hand, I don't post the cap, and it fits perfectly into my hand. I have it with an ef nib, but imo it writes as an medium nib. Since I use it for journaling, and I like a finer line, I reverse writing with it, and it's still perfect. ❤

Sometimes my Q1 has googly eyes and hair, but it always is inked up with something that looks great sloshing around (too big to fit in my pen case so it just sits on my desk) and I find that I use it more than most of my pens. I have very large hands and the section on this pen is very comfortable for me. Unfortunately when I got mine the ink just would not flow to the tipping and it took me a while to figure out there was an issue with the slit on the nib. Until I fixed the original nib I just swapped a number of different #6 nibs in with no problems.

You made me chuckle when you said that the pen was going to your wife's collection. I bought one in November, and I was ambivalent about it. But my wife saw it and decided it was hers. Her second favorite after a Conklin I gave her for her birthday a few years back. Beautiful ink, by the way. It reminds me a bit of Platinum Citrus black.

I have one of these pens and like you was enamoured with it as soon as I saw a review on KZfaq. I even found a Rickshaw mini (xs) zipper pouch that fits the pen perfectly. (This was huge as the girth of the pen exceeds the size of most pen cases.) I've had mine for a couple of years and it has not leaked and has held up well.

Interesting pen, I have not ever owned a eye dropper pen.

I got one of those for my mom because of her arthritis, my stepdad ended up doing some nib work on it because the tines were too close together. I love the look and feel of the Moonman/Majohn pens, (I have M2 and Wancai mini), but I'm not feeling it for the nibs now.

I love mine. I have the nib also. I had some 2 ml samples of ink, so I just filled it so easily with Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo because it holds 2 ml. I like how the ink you filled it with looks in the pen much better! I have a small hand, so I use it unposted. Love this pen!

I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but I understand a little silicone lubricant in the threads might help keep the ink from leaking out unexpectedly. I don't have any eyedropper pens in my collection, personally.

Derivative is a good word for this pen. Sometimes it “makes a statement” in your collection.😊

When you said “I think it’s getting warmed up”…I would’ve BET you were going to say “I really CAN feel the temperature of writing!” So, hmmm, why are we spending $1m + on our writing instruments when we can get along with a $12 buck one!? 🤣 (see how I learned that banker notation? I listen!) Very cool pen!

It IS cute and would look nice as a Christmas tree decoration filled with the right ink. About similarities in pens - I have long held a private theory that in the darkest, wooded wilds of China, invisible to radar, satellite or other observation, is one single, giant factory like the famed ACME company of Coyote fame. And that one factory makes EVERY pen that comes form China, just sending them through different loading gates to trucks marked with the many names of various companies. BTW- ALI EXPRESS ripped me off, for a very nice pen, had to go to Paypal to get a refund... just a caveat.

Every time I see a reviewer open one of these pens, I'm always surprised to see a nib. It doesn't matter that I have seen almost every review by now. I just expect to see a screwdriver blade. It looks like a stubby screwdriver to me. I have had the clear and green one in my cart several times but never did get one. I'd like to get it in green. That one looks like a dill pickle. A dill pickle that's also a screwdriver.

It's cute, but I'd still be more confident in it if it had a few O-rings on the section and some grease. But I admit, eyedroppering a pen makes me jittery. There's so much ink in them that a leak could be catastrophic rather than just an inconvenience.

The Q1 conjured up fat jokes and being bullied in elementary school. “Your mama is so fat. . .” Another great video that transcends the usual formula other channels use.

The girth has turned me off on this pen, unsure how it would feel for me as my preferance is for slimmer pens. This review is making me think twice about this pen. Very cute pen, great review, I love how you go more into the tactile and emotion than the technical.

It's quite adorable. I'm of the same mindset about fine nibs being better for journaling but I have yet to find one smooth enough. I'm not a fan of any feedback. lol. Gives me the willeys. 😂😂. Anyone know of a fine that's smooth please share. 😂

Most of my pens are eyedropper. It is my preferred filling method currently. I use about 0.5ml a day usually so anything less than milliliter is almost unusable for me. So I might get one of these for keeping in my pen cup.

I typically don't purchase anything made in China. I promise it's not racial. I have always some kind of strange aversion to China since childhood. I had a past life re as ding done many years ago. She said I was a famous Chinese matriarch in a past life, so one would think I would feel quite the opposite of what I do. I don't know what has caused this aversion to anything Chinese. Regardless, this pen is not my cup of tea.

I don’t care for Chinese pens anymore. Not least because of their very pedestrian nibs. This pen is downright hideous. The only small, fat pen that I own and care about enough to still keep in my collection is the Stipula Passaporto fountain pen.

May I recommend the Moonman/Majohn C4 to you? It's a Japanese-style eydropper, safe to be brought with you in any occasion with no risk of ink spitting (to me it's not burping, since it emits liquid, not air).
