I know this was a year ago and no one will ever see this comment but I just wanted to mention we have very similarly had things happen in our lives. We homeschooled and used public and private school. Plus my son had brain surgery last august, We are still on the road to recovery due to him having seizures after surgery but I feel like just saying …. “Same, same” to y’all! Keep up the G00d work and fun clips. I watched all your shorts yesterday and today i subscibed

Hi there! First I was wanted to say that I'm so happy that surgery went well and that your hopes of being yourself again are being realized! That is very exciting, especially when you think you'll never be the same again. I've had 32 surgeries so I know that feeling too well. Secondly, I want to thank you guys for restoring my faith. I was just to the point of believing in nothing and letting fear replace hope, joy and love. I see God in you! It's so amazing and so bright as He shines off of you! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that restoration. Truly amazing! Lastly, I just pray for your complete healing and send wishes for the best Christmas ever. God bless you and keep you always 🙏🎄🎅!

My first time “meeting” you all today through your shorts and then found this video. You two are an amazing couple. Your faith and clear Love for one another is such a blessing to witness. Thank you! 🙏🏼 So glad you’re healing and making decisions that allow you to heal and thrive as needed. Love the flexibility in your thinking!!! …and as someone with a post concussion TBI from a bike accident the word loss is an adventure. Great job accessing “extenuating!” 😊🎉🎉 Many more blessings to you and your incredible family!! 💛🙏🏼💛

EVERYONE is allowed to change their minds without having to justify or explain. You are clearly doing what you think is best and that’s all anyone needs to know. Thank you for your transparency. Keep healing, Michael - may prayers and love continue to surround your recovery.

I commend your belief with teaching children. I have tried public, home schooling and finally decided that a Christian private worked best. I agree with, “you have to do what’s best for your family”. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery ❤

So glad that your surgery was a success. In February 2023, as a result of a significant stroke, I had a craniotomy and subsequent surgery 4 months later to replace the bone plate. My energy level fluctuates so much and taking a daily nap is now a necessity. Be well in your recovery. Sending prayers to you all.

Green and yellow brain tissue, whow, unexpected. So it was killing off his brain tissue, wow. It's amazing. Yes, the hospital every hour is messing with you and it's hard to rest. When you're sick, yes noise is hard and messed up/meds. No, the hospital is not peaceful, amen. It's amazing what they can do. I'm glad to hear Dr. Michael Ivan did a great job.

For 17 years I home schooled my 3. 1 year at a time. Each child is unique. Learning styles matter. We enjoyed the flexibility in 'diving deeper' into subjects that interested them. One thrived with on line learning, another with particular outside classes, eventually 1 asked to attend high school. I pray for you to seek, listen and do what works in each of your children and for your family. Continued healing, love and blessings to your family.

So happy to see Micheal feeling so well and positive after surgery! Praying for continued healing! I know exactly how you are feeling about a bit of identity changes when switching from homeschooling. I homeschooled our 5 children for 6 years. My husband works for the railroad so I was alone most of the time. I began having health issues so we made the decision to put them in the local public school (we both attended that same school). I was happy, heartbroken, and a lot of other emotions while watching them go off to school each day. Homeschool was such a blessing but private school will be as well! Prayers to you all!

I understand this completely! Had brain surgery. Didn’t sleep in hospital after for 2 days! They’re poking you, waking you, asking you questions, etc! Give yourself time. 6 months after my surgery I still couldn’t be in a loud room with lots of people and sounds. Your brain was injured! It needs time to heal. I’m still not the same person I was before surgery. Take your time. God bless you all!

I had brain surgery 3 years ago to repair my CSF leak. Fortunately for me, they went through my nose. Brain surgery is not a club now of us want to join, but we have. It is major and very scary. He is looking great for one week post op. I totally agree with him about a hospital not a place to get rest. Especially an ICU. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Glad you are doing well also Cheryl

My son had a cavernous angioma (giant, surgeon said size of beefsteak tomato, so compressed his brain to the left side of his cranium.) It bled too -- and seizures happened often. He wasn't expected to come out of surgery at age 2 yrs 3 months, and he's 27 now! He does have a lot of special needs, but we are so blessed that he is walking and talking and always making progress. So very glad you're doing well. There are research programs, some forms of these CAs are hereditary, not sure if you've explored that, just in case, thought I'd mention it. There are genetic tests if so. Be patient with yourself. ❤

I’m a brain tumor survivor. I had what’s called a “nuisance tumor!” It wasn’t cancerous, but it interfered with my brain functioning. I had a meningioma. It was fused to my skull behind my right ear and went through my brain and stopped at the corner of my right eye. I had horrific headaches. I also have the largest sinuses of anyone my neurosurgeon has ever seen. I had my surgery in January of 1997! I’m 26 yrs meningioma/headache free! Michael, time will fly by. You’ll be back to yourself in no time. I’m praying for you and sending positive thoughts to you and your family! I don’t know where your incision is, but I remember my doctor telling me to exercise my facial muscles. I suggested chewing gum and he said that was perfect. If you or your wife ever want to reach out and ask me any questions or to just talk, please feel free to do so. No one knows better than someone who has been through it. My username on TikTok is Queenofusefulthinking and on Instagram it’s Toooldforthis. LOL! Take care

I’ve done the same! I’m in year 7 of homeschooling. I always took it year by year. Mid fourth grade, switched my oldest to Christian school. 1.5 years later, my second went in third grade. My third is homeschooling in first grade bc it’s what she needs for now. She’ll likely go in third grade. I still have a 3 year old at home. Like you said, do what’s best for your family! I’ve never been one either to think I was better for homeschooling

I'm so happy you had a successful surgery and are recovering at home. Steroids can make you jittery, anxious, irritable and the seizure prevention medications can make you drowsy and a little "slow" with thoughts and comprehension, but those meds are usually tapered off so you don't have an abrupt crash when they are stoppped. Also, Day 14 post-op is a "Be Aware" day, as the blood from the originaal bleed and the blood from the surgery is naturally being broken down so your body can absorb it (like when a bruise turns from blue to green to yellow). Some people notice an increase in symptoms (headache, drowsiness, irritability, etc) around that day so be aware that it is just a chemical process. But if the symptoms are severe, let your Dr. know--sometimes steroids have to be given to help reduce the swelling from the breakdown of blood which can cause some swelling of the brain.You will be you again! God bless and be well.
@Mariellen_
@Mariellen_ Жыл бұрын
I had viral meningoencephalitis 10 years ago so understand a bit the journey you’ve been on. I had/have seizures and was put on anti-seizure meds and took high dose steroids. I felt and acted like a completely different person. I was aggressive, angry, irritated, highly sensitive. I was so afraid that the changes were permanent. It’s hard to separate what is from the brain injury and what are medication side effects but I improved immensely when I stopped the meds. They are a necessary evil but the side effects are brutal. I was so sensitive to light, sound, pretty much any stimulation. Trying to act normal, have conversations took a tremendous amount of energy and I’d be drained and wiped out. I’d usually have to spend the next day recovering. Recovery isn’t a linear journey. There are many ups/downs, good days/bad days but you will get better. I very much struggled w/ trying to get back to who I was before the illness and my limitations. It wasn’t until I accepted the new different version of me that I truly begin to heal. I am an optometrist and prior to this was single and worked long hours. I wasn’t able to work after health issues. I got married and now have 5 kids I homeschool. I discovered God during my recovery and my life looks nothing like I’d planned but is so much better than I could ever have imagined. Give yourself grace, simplify your life, hold close to your beautiful family and let God guide. So proud of you two for making the decision to put your kids in private school. I understand what a difficult decision that must have been but it is what is best for your family right now. And like you said take it one semester at a time. Prayers for healing, recovery, acceptance and peace for your family during this time of transition💕
