Agreed! Especially the trucks! They could have driven another 6 hours south and saved a couple of days stuck in the snow.

Well, it's not predictable there. It's not like Chicago or NY where you have days for a blizzard with a track in some tiny area like the northeast. That place is 1,000 times larger and it comes from everywhere for no reason. But go ahead and live in your weather bubble.

I spent the last week of June this past summer at Donner Lake for a wedding and the ski resort just west of the pass still had big piles of snow melting in the shadows. Funnier than heck; the kids were having a snowball fight in shorts and tee shirts. I wish I was there this weekend to work with the snow removal company at the lake

Hi Webb, sure should’ve had that road shut down well in advance of this and anybody that knew it was coming should not even be out there. It’s not safe it’s dangerous if they’re going to get as much snow as I think they’re going to get you guys are gonna be there for days.

You know I used to live in Auburn in the 80s and early 90s and whenever there was a snow storm on 80.00% of Auburn the truckers would sit on the frontage road between Auburn and Colfax and tell Donner pass open back up now why aren't they doing that now

Some of the trucks such as the Amazon one do not have that choice unless the driver risks losing his job or has it on his record of refusing a load. At least the companies I worked for left it to driver's discretion.

@@muffs55mercury61They all had choices. They were warned that the roads are likely to be impassable due to weather. Extremely stupid to head right into the path of a very well-predicted blizzard.

@@webcomment8895 I agree 1000%. No job is worth my life or limb, the lives of others, property damage or me getting sued for an accident. I was lucky and never got pressured into it. Another thing some companies will do is not pay the driver for moving the load if it's late due to the driver not willing to risk it.

If more guys were good at chaining up their truck, this may have not been so dramatic. With a good chain rack and method of use could have been on their way. Chain up, slow down and drive as long as you can see where you're going.
