You can see how broken they are after Basil's suicide. They just got back together like the old days and suddenly it all falls apart. Aubrey thinks it's her fault and feels guilty. Kel snaps and loses his joyful spirit. Hero who overcame the grief of losing Mari falls back down. Polly feels worthless as she was Basil's caretaker. Just imagine their reaction when they learn Sunny committed suicide as well. I think anyone would lose it at this point.

i actually found this ending on my own it’s optional to get the knife if you don’t pick up it you just move but the sound of ambulance sirens are heard throughout the whole credits and if you do pick up the knife this is what happens…

basically this is the knife ending where sunny kills himself in his sleep. he kills himself while not realizing due to him not saving basil. at least thats how i interpreted it. so ye he felt a big load of guilt which already made him suicidal. He was already not mentally well after the mari incident but now that this happened again he kills himself to get over it in his sleep.

I accidentally got this ending while trying to go for the True Ending. Whoops...

This is the true bad ending of the game. Even in the "bad ending" there's the possibility that the gang can save Basil, but here, we get none of that. Aubrey blames herself for Basil's suicide, and by extension, most likely sunny. She's already not in the best mental state, so this most likely breaks her, and the hooligans don't provide her a good enough support structure for her to cope with it. She probably tries to hide away from the world, like she did after pushing Basil into the lake. I'm don't think she's going to off herself immediately, but she most certainly is going to be completely traumatized by it. Hero already feels an immense amount of guilt for not being able to save Mari. Seeing two more of his friends, one of which he knew was deeply troubled do the same is the final straw. I doubt he lives much longer without following suit. Kel is now having to deal with his friend group in complete shambles, permanently. Despite his best efforts to bring the group back together, most of his friends are dead, including his brother. The one that isn't has shut herself off from the world. He still has the rest of his family, including his little sister, so I don't think he's a goner, but he certainly isn't in the best state either.

4:52 This ending hit the hardest for me. It’s something you see “SUNNY” do throughout the entire game but you can reassure yourself that nothing bad comes out of it. But to see that he actually went through with it irl in his sleep is so saddening

Ok, so Sunny and Basil committed suicide. But, the others very possibly did after the game as well. I mean, Aubrey clearly thought Basil killed himself because of her, so she'd blame herself for both deaths. Kel has now seen suicide happen twice and he doesn't know how to cope with such negativity in any way other than moving on, which is difficult to do if it happened twice. Hero would feel inadequate for not saving Basil and Sunny, and added on with his remaining guilt from Maria's death, well. That doesn't seem too good for him. So, basically, they're all fucked

I just realized Kel is probably crying the most in this scene because all of his emotions from the past four years were bottled up, but this one event just caused them to spill out

You're a 16 years old who just got outside after 4 years not going out of home, try to interact with your friends after so much time and on the last day, in a sleep over, you see your best friend corpse. Add that feeling by the fact you think you caused his death and multiply by the trauma you had 4 years ago.

I always thougjt that in the knife ending it would lead to the hospital where sunny confronts omori and one of the two routes happen but without basil

There was 6... And then... there were 3... The result would be this... Hero: Hero would once again become a hikikiomori, But so much worse, as he not only lost someone he had loved, he lost 2 friends which he had honored and protected, This state would lead to the fact that Hero would most likely permanently become a hikikiomori... And in extreme cases... Might even kill himself to see his other 3 friends again... Kel: Kel has broke... He couldnt stand to truly be happy anymore... He does the normal routines but can never recover the lose of so many people he had tried to save... over a long long period of time, He might try to become happy again like before... But he will never be truly happy ever again... He will forever be scarred... Aubrey: Aubrey not only thinks that Basil's death was her fault, but now also thinks that its her fault for Sunnys death, In the mindset, Aubrey thinks that she technically lead Basil to kill himself, which lead a chain event to Sunny killing himself after, All of this was too much and she would lock herself away, Never talking to her hooligan friends, Kel, Hero and anyone ever again...

I love seeing these comments theorizing and stuff and honestly I think the representation of "something" is a really good metaphor for how committing su*cide/death in general can just pass the pain on to other people. so even if basil and sunny are free of their something in death, it will still move on to haunt their friends.

when i tell you i am absolutely in love with this game, i mean it ive always loved psycological horror, and this game is honestly just perfect for it. the story is portrayed so nicely, accompanied with a genuinely stunning soundtrack and sfx. the storys timing and atmospherical portrayal was just on point. the characters are all relatable and serve their part in the story. before i got to the big twist, i got spoiled so unfortunately there wasnt a big shock to me :"D. but omocat is genuinley such a big inspiration to me, especially because of this story. i dont get why people think this is poorly portraying dissociative identity disorder (DID), (which it literally has no connection to) since its pretty much all just a dream. but point is, this game is a true masterpiece in my eyes, and i really think it doesnt deserve all the hate it gets. omori will forever hold a place in my heart, and be my biggest inspiration, as will omocat and their team. sorry if this comes across as rude or pushy, i just felt i had to state my opinion on the omori dispute :')

Imagine if Aubrey found out he wasn't even the one who used the marker on the photo album. I think she'd just die from the heartbreak. Bullied him for 4 years to suicide (From what she believes) and he didn't even do the deed.

i think if aubrey were to see sunny’s death on her own, she would also begin to see a “something” like basil and sunny, but rather than the “something” being mari, it would vary between the two (more likely sunny i think… didnt she have a crush on him when she was little?) this game is so interesting

This ending is even worse when you realise that basil and especially sunny died with the guilt and trauma of Mari's death and also died without telling the truth about Mari's "suicide" to Kel, Aubrey and Hero, which was their only wish because it would've lifted off a huge load off their backs but in this ending they died unsatisfied. Plus, when we talk to Hero before going into Basil's room he says 'Everything is going to be okay. *I think* ' note that he said I think in the same font as Basil's during the boss fight in the good ending, meaning that Hero is probably the next victim of something but with a heavier sense of guilt and trauma. If we look at Aubrey, she thinks Basil and Sunny committed suicide because of her bullying and she too, will probably commit suicide with that guilt as in headspace during various fights, Aubrey shows her emotions and depicts her emotions better than the others (we're excluding Omori here) and is VERY sensitive so it makes sense that she wouldn't be able to handle the feeling of guilt and will commit suicide too. Kel will lose all of his optimistic charm which helped him move on from Mari's death, making him more deppresed than ever. But y'know what's worse? Even after putting themselves to rest, "something" will probably still haunt Basil and Sunny in the afterlife and make them suffer even more, this time with no escape. But it switches over to Hero, the cycle will continue killing off the whole friend group. This trauma will most likely pass on to their parents too and will become and endless hard-to-break cycle.

I think that Hero, Kel and Aubrey would feel very guilty of Sunny's suicide, because they left him go home alone. Especially Hero's guilt would probably kill him

I know that this "canonically" isn't the true ending, but a bunch more games can be spun off from this. Like imagine a sequel which is just the aftermath of this ending. The studio that makes this game could mess around with shifting POV's, to each of the remaining friend group. I think it'd be the most interesting from Aubrey's POV since you can probably tell from all the theory comments about her blaming herself for the suicides. Then imagine a prequel from Mari POV where we see her getting more and more troubled, with the finale of the game being her getting pushed off the stairs by Omori, leading to this game. It might not be too hard to imagine, since she was barely talking with the friend group anymore, and she might've been getting stressed out with piano practice and whatnot.

I can only imagine how Aubrey feels. She picked on basil for trying to forget mari. She undoubtedly thinks she’s the reason basil finally committed suicide

I can't stop crying. I've been crying for a hour just because of how bad I feel for Aubrey, Hero, and ESPECIALLY Sunny and Kel. I NEVER thought I would see Kel cry. And plus, at 3:08 , I realized what Sunny was gonna do.

And I thought the bad ending was fucked up… this is worse on a whole different level, the phone ringing from his mom, showing that she has just lost yet another child to “suicide”. And think about how Hero, Kel, and Aubrey would react. Imagine losing two of your best friends to suicide in less than 24 hours.

In this ending, there’s absolutely no possibility of the truth coming out. At least in the bad ending, Basil could still reveal it even though unlikely. Now both of them are dead and even if Sunny’s dad knows the truth, he’s fully out of the picture.

It's so chilling when the alarm goes on and on and on, because sunny will never be able to turn it off

Aubrey has started being alcoholic, afraid to directly commit suicide. Hero had committed suicide; blaming himself for Mari’s and Basil’s deaths and for sending Sunny home alone. Kel was sent to psychiatric hospital. That’s what I think would have happened after this ending.

The worts thing about this it's that anyone will never know the truth about Mari's death.

this is honestly the worst ending. Hero, Aubrey and Kel believing Mari killed herself for 4 years, then Basil and Sunny doing the same thing soon after they get back together after Mari's death... I'm sure it would break Kel, Aubrey would probably get way worse, and Hero would go back to when Mari just died. I wouldn't be suprised if our remaining 3 did the same after this ending

This is just my theory but: Sunny will probably try to kill himself soon after moving out,after choose the option not to pick up the knife. "There was no Light Bulb here" The lightbulb represent the idea of escapism, headspace, as long as it's still there, Headspace still exists and Sunny still can escape the truth. However, after Sunny breaking it, Headspace no longer exist, thus why there's no more entrance to Headspace. Even with Sunny's moving out, I don't think there will be no hope left for Sunny to live. He can not escape, he can not move on, thus there's only one option, like the one you see in the Bad Ending.

The artstyle makes the game so much sadder. It gives the audience that "childhood" essence. Which makes you relate to the characters, its really well done.

I really like how it prompts you "save Basil" and not "enter the room". Sunny knows something terrible is going to happen and he has the choice to embrace yet another time escapism or just face reality.

bruh imagine going to sleep after seeing ur friend off themself and then waking up in the afterlife being told you killed yourself in your sleep

This is so tragic even worse is that they died taking the truth to their graves no one will ever know what truly happened and they are all traumatized

Sunny's immediate reaction to Basil's death is horrifying by itself, as it's implications are... well, regression and further repression, plus him falling apart very soon after. Add that onto the list of things that make the neutral/bad endings an absolute suffering for everybody...

The way the credits roll silently on the black screen with only the ringing of the phone... Genuinely the most chilling ending in the game. Even the infamous My Time sequence, while horrific, is almost peaceful in it's finality, as Sunny gives in and lets himself fall into the dream forever. But here, there's only a hollow, anticlimactic ache, the ringing of the phone a foreboding, inescapable reminder of the real world that the boys have left behind. Not to mention how much more brutal and graphic the suicides in this ending are compared to the bad ending; we don't even see Sunny hit the ground in the bad ending.

The worst thing...all of this could have been avoided had Sunny kept his promise to Basil.

I know this is rather gruesome to say but I genuinely want to know and see the others (characters) reactions and thoughts to Sunny’s suicide on top of Basil’s (more than just what has instantly happened. I want to hear what the characters do afterwards over the span of their lifetime or for however long the grief has lasted for each of them). As someone who as depression and has…tendencies, I find it intriguing and interesting when a character is the same way and thinks like I do that it might be the best option to just disappear, and then know what the people around me do about it in their life once I have passed by my own hands. It’s just a weird and fucked up thing I’m drawn to.

Edit: Holy shit I totally forgot about Sunny's mom 💀💀💀 her husband left after Mari's supposed "suicide," then Sunny too... just horrible

When i got this ending I cried. Mostly at seeing Basil dead. It physically hurt, and i alnmost felt suicidal in that moment. I connected and related to this game so much, that my therapist told me to never touch it again, as it pulls me down. I love it. So much. But this ending is the single most horrible thing i have experienced

It's just awful, mari, basil, and sunny. And imagining them hearing about how sunny took his life the same night, it makes you wonder if the rest are going to as well, probably in order as, mari, basil, sunny, aubery, hero...kel.

Man this is just horrible to see because they literally lose two friends the same day to suicide. Hell, I feel like the three others might have wanted to kill themselves as well, especially Aubrey since she feels that it's her fault that Basil died.
