This run aims to complete Majora's Mask in the first 3-day cycle. It uses SRM (www.zeldaspeed...) only to equip the Deku Mask, and is never used again.
"The 3 Day Challenge" is one of the oldest Zelda challenges. This run puts a new spin on that old category.
Old Challenge:
- done in 6 days/2 cycles
- starts its main cycle with ocarina and song of healing
- uses inverted song of time (slows time 3x)
New Challenge:
- has only 1 cycle total
- has no ocarina/song of healing, even after turning human
- has no access to inverted song of time for the entire run (time moves 5x faster than inverted time without ocarina)
- gets some more things other than just beating the game...

imagine being a citizen of clock town. some deku scrub comes scrambling up from the sewers, teleports around town for 3 days helping random people, blows himself up a lot, transforms repeatedly into different species, and then finally kills the moon after summoning some giants. they knew this guy for 3 days.

That's not even really that different from the game's actual story. (Other than the whole main character blowing himself up thing). In the game's actual story link does this getting to know the town intimately , but the other people know very little about this guy.It's kind of like groundhog's day.

@@gallows9998 it’s kind of tragic, since it’s a direct parallel to what Link already experienced once. He saved Hyrule, becoming its hero, but then travelled back to a time when nobody remembers what he did. Then he gets the chance to prove his heroism in Termina, only for him to get to know and love this parallel dimension without it ever knowing him. Again. And so, in his timeline, he ends as an unsung hero, because saving the world with his ability to travel through time, the very same ability that allowed him to save multiple worlds to begin with, cursed him with noone ever knowing that he did.

The real reason there is a year between all of these is so we the viewer have enough time to free up enough space in order to have enough room for all the things Keeta wants us to keep in the back of our mind.

I've been wanting to see what I call a "Perfect cycle" speed run. Where you load a file that has already 100% the game, then make everyone from the notebook happy, beat every boss, and do everything possible so that the most things possible are done in the same cycle to make a "Perfect cycle". I don't think it's possible to do EVERYTHING in one cycle, but I think it'd be interesting to try to complete the anju and kafei sidequest while also beating the boss in each temple and doing so many other things. You'd have to plan out everything you do so that you're where you need to be when you need to be there. Save the bomb lady, dancing with the girls in west clock town, frog choir, anju and kafei, the aliens sidequest. It would be so cool to see how many things you could complete in one cycle

It is not possible to do the Kafei and Bomb lady side quests at the same time. Sakon won't go to the pawn shop if he doesn't steal the bomb bag, and THAT means Kafei will never follow him to his hideout. :\

@@philipdraco To be fair, things like Bomb lady aren't that important. She's safe, alive, unharmed. Even her and her son don't really care about losing it. So quests like that could be ignored, perhaps?

If you use glitches and exploits, you probably can make everyone happy. I'm fairly sure, using a trick that we've seen here, you can actually help Kafei and Bomb lady in the same cycle. If you do the Kafei sidequest as normal and also help the bomb lady, Kafei will not be waiting for you at Sakon's hideout on day 3. But, as Keeta does in this video, if you clip into the hideout on night 3 Kafei should be there anyway. IIRC, the game will just load him there on night 3, because there isn't supposed to be any way to get in there without doing the quest properly. So long as you gave Anju the pendant, she will be waiting at the inn and you can get the mask. I've messed around with the early Sakon's hideout in the past, and I'm not 100% sure but I'm fairly certain that it can be done, might need to go back to MM and check. We also saw Keeta use equip swap to help both Madame Aroma and the Postman. Although, arguably, if you just give the letter to the postman, you're still helping both of them as Madame Aroma still finds out her son is ok - you just won't get the reward from her. Edit: If you do save them both, I'm not sure if Curiosity shop guy will be there to give you the Keaton mask and priority mail, but I wonder if there would still be a way to help everyone here by exploiting day reset? Probably not, but if you consider glitches you can easily do a lot more to help people. TL;DR I think you can help both Kafei and Bomb lady, but then possibly not his mother or postman.

when it was announced that this year's lotad would be a mm run, i thought about what it could be. first i thought something like: "afr no human in dungeons" again. either something similar to that or as remastered. then i thought about srm/ace. then about max% first cycle(as deku). but this one surprised me a bit. and this time i even managed to watch it live. that was cool :).

1:20:47 - "maybe it applies the movement speed of one of the other forms" This is actually correct, and we can tell because the exact same bug is present in the 3DS version. There, if you end as human, you actually get the slow acceleration effect that Deku got in that version. And if you end as Deku (in both versions) you get what I assume are human's movement properties instead. My guess is that having 4 player models in the same scene puts the game into some sort of weird state and they have to manually clean up some stuff afterward, but they accidentally swapped human and Deku's movement properties and never noticed. I don't know how accurate this actually is, though. (If anyone _does_ know more about why this works, please let me know.)

I get malncolic thinking about the year where there will be no LOTAD on Febuary 22nd. Perhaps I will have stopped caring. Perhaps Keeta will be dead. Perhaps I will die before. Perhaps KZfaq will have closed. Perhaps electricity will have become a very scarce commodity or perhaps scilicium will. When there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. You can actually skip the Pirate's Fortress cutscene without any glitches OR cheats. It's possible to snipe the beehive before you even touch the cutscene trigger. It's only technically a "glitch" in the same way getting to Ikana Valley by snagging the tree from across the river (without Ice Arrows) is.

Doing all of these glitches without error is beyond crazy. Perfect run, Props. Could cut the tension with a kokiri sword during some moments between you guys lol, GREAT FLEX. Lets see a speed run-off between you and the german guy.

you do realise that this is LOTAD? He did not play it live, it was created using savestates and frameadvance. That's why all these glitches are done without error.

A TAS on the other hand is pretty much a perfect run, where creators spend months perfecting every single trick, making it a showcase of what would be possible timewise for human without making any mistake.

1:15:00 I actually discovered this cutscene glitch a few years ago and kept meaning to mention it to the public (didn't because shy), so it honestly makes me glad that someone else found it so that everyone else can enjoy it!
