Great video learned a lot for draining my fish room. I’ve never seen plumbing done like that. Not sure all that will meet code here, but gives me ideas and options. Thanks

From an experienced plumber, you only need 1/4 inch slope on 10 foot of pipe

Hello Corey. How do you fish proof the overflow so no small fish is lost? Thanks!

Pipe hangers every 4 feet. Might need transition glue between bulkhead( if it is abs) to the pvc 1x3/4 90.

I know I'm sending this 5 years too late but I am building this same system except I can't run PVC pipe all the way to a drain, but I can run rubber hosing so I was thinking about have all the tanks drain through the pvc pipe and connecting the pvc pipe to a rubber hose (like the siphon hosing) that runs to the drain. Do you think this would be too much pressure on the hose and would it not be able to drain quick enough?

Loving the videos, keep up the great work. I like to see these fish room updates gives me a lot of ideas for mine. I do have one question though. With regards the drain system is this technique ok for a continuous flow system. I have multiple tanks running of one sump an using a plastic pipe would be easier than a rigid pipe ( like you say in video) but is it ok for continues flow?

+RIFT CULTURE Yeah, wholesalers do it. In my tour of the fish wholesalers in the "fish room tour series playlist" you can see they use gutters instead of black abs, but same concept.

To make sure I get this right- that was a 1"bulkhead, to a 3/4 barb with 5/8 line? That looked like a 20. Would that also work on a 40 breeder?
@AquariumCoop

+junebug 5000 Yeah I use the same lines on a 40 breeder as well.

Is there a video where you show how to drill and plumb those tanks?

Loving your DIY videos! What do you put over the tank's bulkhead outlet (inside the aquarium) to prevent fish and debris from draining into it? Also, if you want a full tank with water up to the frame, do you telescope the drain up from the bulkhead? I might be missing another video where you talk about this, if so I appreciate your redirection. Thanks!

You can use pvc as a riser pipe and then typically you use bulkhead intake screens. You'll see some more of that type of stuff coming up in the new fish room videos.

There's a basic principle with this I may be missing... when you fill your tanks, are you ever drawing DOWN the water, or simply filling it and allowing it to overflow? I've been trying to figure out how you automated the draining, but I think I'm just not recognizing that you might be relying on overflow rather than actually drawing it down.
@AquariumCoop
@AquariumCoop 6 жыл бұрын
+Youngmanandthelake correct, it overflows the water.

Aquarium Co-Op thanks Corey! Just bought some orchids snakeskin n class endlers, doesn't really matter, but I'm excited to breed. Going to keep them in a tank with a gob of shrimp and moss, and I'll let you know how long it takes to make 1k off it 😉 thanks for the inspiration, your videos have fueled my wife and my evenings for weeks now.

What is the point of this? I was looking for a water change system? Do you just add water and let it flow out at the same time doing a water change?

I'm guessing this video has already answered my question: ABS is safe for aquarium use then, eh? Since you're using it... Heard too many rumors about the pipe being toxic for aquarium use.

+Illusion Of Hatred Well to be fair this is for drain lines. But yes I do use them for caves etc inside the tank. I personally have never run into a problem.

That's great to hear, as well cheaper to run than full on PVC. Your videos are so far fairly useful to use as a guide... Thank you.
