In this woodworking tutorial I show you how to make a mini router table for a trim router (laminate router).
Trim Routers or Laminate Routers (AKA Mini Router) are meant for smaller woodworking projects and can be made even more useful by making a Mini Router Table to make them more versatile like cutting rabbets, trimming smaller wood pieces, making dados, edge banding, decorative edge trimming, and even jointing smaller pieces. Lot of possibilities of different wood joints and trims especially for smaller do it yourself projects like boxes, plaques, picture frames, miniatures and models.

Colin, You're doing such a great job! One of the best woodworking teachers I have ever had (reminds me of Norm Abram). I'm not so intimidated at trying new things -- as you, often, say: "It's not that difficult!" I, often, watch your videos over and over (by the way, I enjoy your personable voice). Again, thank you!

This was great! Exactly what i needed for my tiny shop. I found hassling with the bigger router table - even to just change the bits was annoying. Can't wait to attempt to build this!

It's not only the great work you do but the way your explain how the tools work I installed my mini router in my table saw about 4 years ago and it works so much better now you explained about the router bearing being level with the wood I thought that the bearing was just for free hand operation that might seem obviates but I'm new to routers Thx

Sweet little setup. Great for smaller roundover bits, just like you used. Nice to have a "dedicated" setup for that type of bit, as I seem to use it on almost every shop fixture build. My larger router can stay in its table for dados, etc. If you could accurately machine away a 1/16" or so from the near side of the "fence", you can also use this as a small sized joiner (with a straight bit of course). Excellent video, and straight to the point.

Hey Colin - I was just thinking of going out & spending $$ on a table for my handheld router but honestly your video brought to mind why I got the router in the first place I love wood working - so why not make my own. Brilliant job & thank you for posting it. Also I thought the lighting of the video and your cadence of delivering what you did & how you did it was perfect & easy for a beginner (sort of) like me to understand!

Wow Colin....Nice to be back again. I was given a trim router today as gift. Been doing the woodwork now for about 5yrs. Made a whole load of things using a big two handled beast with the power press button on the handle (have to keep thumb on button = Cramp in thumb. Thought I was stuck with it, thinking "Oh well this is how it always gonna be" {ignorance} !! Tried new trim router and it was like carving butter with a sharpe pencil !!!!! Going to make this table. {Sorry mate} Again, I'm gonna have tell the missus I thought of it !!! Been married 40yrs ;) Thanks brother.

Wow, great! You know, I have seen a fair few videos on different designs for this recently, and most just seem needlessly complicated. Add to that the music and overproduction of other videos really gets in the way for me. This will get the job done with minimal resource and time. Also, your delivery is well paced and engaging. Brilliant! Thanks a lot.

Scale up. I made my big router table pretty much the same way as you did your little table top table. I use two saw horses to support mine. Works great. But, there are times I wish I had a smaller table top router table. I like your's with the legs that fold up for storage. I have enough wood laying around. I may just make one. Looks like a fun project. Barry
