Jenny demonstrates how to make a lovely North Star quilt using 3 different precuts: 2.5 inch strips (we used London Fog Batiks by Island Batik), 1.5 inch strips of white, and 2.5 inch squares of white. This Star of a quilt is sure to light up your life!

On a personal note - I loved the name of this quilt. I made it a couple years ago for a family member that is serving time. It seemed to fit so well for when they are released, hoping they will find their "NorthStar". And I made it in greens, to remind them to continue growing as they held on to their own northern star. This one will always have a tender place in my heart. Thank you for your great tutorial. ❤

Have you ever considered making KZfaq playlists by type of precut? Like a Jelly Roll playlist, or layer cake playlist? That way when we get one we can browse the potential MSQC options! 😀

Your tutorials are absolutely excellent. You are an outstanding teacher. This quilt is just different enough to be eye catching yet still retain echoes of traditional quilts. With all that said you were in too much of a hurry to get this lesson crammed into a certain number of minutes. You seemed to be too rushed to have any fun with what you were doing and that's a huge part of the appeal of your tutorials. You are always enthusiastic about your projects. You are always joyful in your presentations. Today you seemed like you just wanted to get it over with. That short changed the beautiful quilt.

I have two months to quilt this summer and with each video I find another one I want to make. But there is not enough time. I think though that this one will bump one of the others off my list I love quilts that have an illusion effect. Great use of precuts for those without a lot of cutting space. I loved your nest comment. I have a couple wooden TV tables that work for my nest, one gets a small cutting mat, the other an ironing surface and my smaller iron.

Oh my gosh! You've done it again, Jenny! That is such a visually interesting quilt yet it's not horribly difficult. I just love you, you have no idea what a difference you've made in my quilting life and my life in general. I suffered an awful accident about 5 years ago and I've been having surgeries to put me back together. My first surgery was to stabilize my neck so I had a 3 level fusion and during my recovery I discovered you. I couldn't do anything, including sitting in front of a computer, so my husband bought me a tablet. Boy did I use that thing, I was glued to your tutorials. 😄 You got me through that and my next surgery to fix my right arm, rotator cuff surgery. And finally my latest surgeries.... I had 2 major back surgeries 2 days apart about 90 days ago. This recovery can take a year. I still have my other shoulder to get fixed but I can only concentrate on one body part at a time. What happened to me? A mirror, about the size of a queen sized bed pillow fell on my head. The frame of the mirror was over 2" thick and made from concrete. 🤤I had a TBI that took a long time to recover from, I still have my moments and when you say you are directionally challenged, I know exactly what you mean. I could barely think or talk straight, I've come a LONG way, I lost my career but I found YOU. You may not realize what a difference you make in people's lives, but believe me, you've saved mine. Thank you for being you. Love, Sharon from Michigan. ❤️💛💚💙💖

Wow, what a traumatic thing to happen to you. You seem to have a positive attitude an that will help you to recover faster. I'm disabled and my husband bought me a tablet before he passed away to try to teach me how to do things on a computer. My generation didn't grow up with computers so I didn't really want to use it. But I'm glad he pushed me. I found KZfaq and found Jenny. She's always so fun and upbeat. I wish you well on your recovery, Gale from Illinois

I've got to try this one. Jenny, as you were explaining the "how to" my mind kept thinking "chain piecing, chain piecing." Would it alter the quilt outcome to chain piece all like-kind sewing pieces before moving onto adding the next piece? I'd like to see you expand on this tutorial and go a little slower next time and show exactly how you sewed each new row. I'm a beginner old person and it probably takes me longer to absorb than people who have been quilting for years. Thank you, Jenny, for helping to make my last few years memorable, not just for me, but for others who have benefited from my new hobby.
