How to make a rustic rough barnwood and metal iron pipe vanity light yourself diy. For vanity lights I love the look and simplicity of rustic barn wood and iron metal pipe combined. This is the best way I could find to make a video to show how to make it yourself.
Here is the list of what I used for this project.
bit.ly/FloorFlange 4 - 1/2" floor flanges
bit.ly/ReducingElbow 4 - 1/2" - 3/4" reducing elbows
bit.ly/3InchNipple 4 - 3" nipples or 4” if you rather
bit.ly/LightHolderSocket 4 - Light Sockets with pigtails
bit.ly/GorillaSuperGlueGel 1 - super glue gel
bit.ly/BlackWoodScrews 1- pack or 16 black wood screws
bit.ly/ElectricalWire14 1 - each black and white wire
bit.ly/SpliceConnectors 1 - pack yellow splice connector
bit.ly/WireCrimpingTool 1 - wire crimping tool
bit.ly/DarkStainMarker 1 - dark stain marker
bit.ly/TrimHeadScrews 1 - pack trim head screws
bit.ly/WireStrippers 1- Wire strippers
Also Rubbing alcohol which you probably already have.
Hopefully you enjoyed this video. Let me know how you did building your own light.

No real need for a ground folks. However, if you've just got to have one, do this. Use a small bolt and nut in one of the flange holes for each of the 4 lights. Connect a ground wire behind the nut of each and wire it to the ground in the box. All a ground does is help prevent shock if you get a short to metal.

Great job!. Just some additional safety improvements, since this is wood, the wiring should always be incased in metal or some kind of conduit. Especially the crimped joints. A simple solution is to cut small pieces of 1/2" pvc pipe and push it in the drilled holes. Also I would add in a metal back panel, could be a piece of sheet duct work and attach a ground screw.

@SmartEasyDIYer
@SmartEasyDIYer 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I tried to explain about that part. It was hard to show actually hooking it up in the box because I couldn’t just let the light hang but I thought I mentioned how to do it. White wires to the neutral white wire in the box and and black power wires to the black wire in the box. There is no good way to ground each socket so I didn’t do a ground otherwise that would go to the bare or green ground wire.

Still not sure exactly how you hung it. Did you happen to capture that with photos?
@SmartEasyDIYer
@SmartEasyDIYer 4 жыл бұрын
I didn’t get pics of that part. I just angled some screws through the top part where you can’t see it into where there was a stud. I think a better option for most cases probably would be to use like a French cleat made for hanging a picture. You may have to install it just below the top edge so it can’t be seen but shim it out so it’s even with the top edge if you build the light the same way where it has a 3/8 inch difference. If you understand what I mean.
