Я такие делал: оптрон с самоблокоровкой как реле. Ещё делал из триггера RS так чтобы одной и той же кнопкой включать и выключать. Один раз нажал включил, второй выключил.

No se necesitan que sean de esos switch, es un circuito de retención que se puede aplicar con otro tipo de interruptor , ejemplo los de las puertas de un carro para una alarma, al abrir la puerta la alarma se activa al entrar al carro se oprime un botón oculto para desactivado ! excelente idea!

To the people that think this is useless and it's better to have a switch: this doesn't conserve state, in case of a power fault, when the power comes back it's off again, and that's very important in some areas. For people asking for better power, i recommed using a relay to achieve the same thing, just replace the input of the opto with the coil input and the output of the opto with the switch of the relay and you're done. You can also use this to power the gate of a mosfet instead of an led, put this circuit into the positive rail and a 1K resistor between ground and this circuit, put this point between the resistor and the circuit into the mosfet's gate, drain to power negative, and source to the charge -, and positive is both the positive for this and for the charge.

This will always have 270 ohms in series with the load, so it's a bit lossy. However it can be used in conjunction with a relay to switch a higher current without loss. What is the voltage this circuit works within? I assume by the example that the voltage was around 12V.

Quick calculation: 3 white LEDs take some 3 V each making 9 V drop on diodes. Assuming 12 V supply there's 3 V to dissipate on the resistor. The one used here was 270 R which limits the current to 11 mA. Quite reasonable. So, yes your guess of 12 V was correct.

Pra quem acha isso inútil e acha melhor usar um switch, esse circuito não conserva estado, em caso de uma falha de força ele retorna desligado e isso é muito importante em algumas áreas. Quem quer mais força pode usar um relê, substitua o led do opto pela bobina do rele, e substitua o fotoacoplador do opto pela saída do relê. Também dá pra usar esse circuito com mosfet, ligue ele no positivo e o caminho pro negativo bote um resistor de 1k, aí vc pega esse ponto entre o resistor e o circuito e liga ele no Gate do mosfet, o dreno (drain) do mosfet no negativo da fonte, e o source vai pra saída do circuito como negativo, o positivo é o mesmo pra saída e pro circuito.

Why do we need more expensive, four components and environment unfriendly complex circuitry for on/off, when the targeted objective of on/off can be easily obtained with only one innocent on/off switch. No marks for such circuitry. Some people have aching fingers. They always do things in a harder way. Now we just witnessed one such personality in action.

Sometimes you don't want the circuit to retain the ON state after power failure. Sometimes having the switch can cause serious accidents, like the power going back up and you having your hand amputated while messing on stuff on production line.

Yes, you can get a mosfet, connect this directly in the positive rail, instead of the LED put a 10k resistor and in the leg of the resistor that goes to this circuit connect to Gate of the mosfet, source as output - and drain to the GND

Não faz, eles conservam estado, continuam ligados depois que a energia acaba. Eu já usei um circuito desse como latch de um disjuntor pra extensão de tomada em barra, iniciava o relê ligado até acontecer uma bosta e dae esse carinha mantia o relê desligado depois da falha, literalmente a melhor extensão que eu já tive, nunca me preocupava pra ligar coisa duvidosa nele.
