Today we learn how to make a sled for flattening wood slabs! 5 Months ago I decided I wanted to start milling up my own lumber and today I finally find out if it was all worth it.

OMG! Such beautiful wood grain. You should be super proud of yourself. I saw something else beautiful you made in your shop…..with your wife’s help. 😉

I freaking love the mad scientist laugh + the "I can't believe I did this all myself" vibe. I'm teaming up w/a friend who has a lot more space. It looks like he's going to host the milling on his property, & I'll host the assembly & finishing on mine. :) So I've been watching your kiln + set up videos, & appreciate all the info you've shared.

I think rubbing or denatured alcohol releases hot glue, so you get a sneak peek at the grain while getting rid of the glue.

very beautiful walnut ...the color and grain is amazing...your months of hard work paid off!!...and about the using the push stick....I've been building cabinets for almost 25 years and I rip 1 3/4" oak and ash for face frames all day long and never use a push stick and never will and I still have all my digits

Awesome!😂😂😂 I use a push stick when I'm concerned about kickback or when there isn't enough room for my fingers😁

@@WyldeWoodworks Use sandpaper glued to the construction instead of hotglue to prevent sliding of the slab?

Please, please get some dust collection, or wear a respirator! If you keep this up, you are going to have serious health issues later in life. Incredible progress though, it must be extremely gratifying to get to this point after so much work in so many different steps :D

Third one I've seen today that used compressed air to create a cloud of walnut dust. Why positive pressure rather than negative?

So glad to still be watching your 'Big Log' adventure series. It has been great not only seeing how you approach and solve, but also to share in your joy as each step is overcome. (Those are all my big words for this week.) OMGawd, so freaking cool!!!!! Keep them coming please. After seeing this, the short released earlier this week doesn't do it justice. B-E-A-U-TIFUL!
