We've got a brand new climbing wall, no holds and lots of scrap wood. The best way to recycle is to reuse. Lets take this scrap and make some amazing climbing holds.
We will set the first boulder problem on this wall and will do it in two evenings after a long day of work.
Thanks for Hanging Out!

Nice work. Handy tip for folks when glueing: A few grains of sand will stop the sheets from sliding around when you're trying to clamp/drill them together if you're trying to line them up precisely

I like me some wooden climbing holds, especially from scraps! For an "unedited" video, this was pretty fun! Good stuff.

1/8" = saw blade thickness. After watching multiple climbing holds videos from you, I might actually do this now.

I believe the reason you're adding 1/8 in. is because you're going to sand them down so if you cut them to exact size now - they'll end up being smaller than initially spec'd.

Really good guess but that isn't it. It has to do with how or what I'm using to cut them apart ;)

Ohhhh he’s accounting for blade width in the sawing process. I thought it was sanding as well!

The 1/8th would be to compensate for the kerf of the blade cutting it

I appreciate all of your tutorials, tips and tricks! Instead of cutting them apart at 90 degrees, why not cut them with a bevel? It would save some grinder work. Inspired by you, I made some simple wooden crimps. I put the counter sinks for the bolts on opposite sides so when I cut them on a bevel, it was also beveling both holds.

The circular saw I was using was to small to cut through it at an angle... and I was a little worried about hitting a screw.

@@climberdad I’m a general contractor so it’s easy for me. I love climbing and I’m really thinking of opening a gym. We have a bouldering gym here with no top rope or lead. I’m Shai a veteran and I’m hoping to try and partner with the boulder gym.
