Nice build. And it shows that you can make that press without welding. I will admit some sections would be a lot solider if you did weld them up. However a little suggestion to make working with the press easier. Make a sizable knob to attach to the release value. Amazing how much easier it is to turn the knob verses using the handle to release the press. And some times if you're repeating a process, a knob makes it tons easier to release only enough to set up the next press action. Thumbs Up!

maybe for smaller jobs should be fine? or it's always safer/better to weld?

What a nice clean build that works better than I would of thought, I do have a tip for you though, on thin the wall box section metal , you tapped a thread , but you would only get one thread that is very weak, so if you buy a Flow drill bit then you can 3 x more metal to get more threads

Have you ever created something which isn't a work of art as well as being functional ... the only man I know who can make drilling a hole interesting ... yet another fantastic piece of kit which outclasses some of the trash built by companies and at a far lower price as well I'm sure 👍 I'm not sure where I'd source big springs like you have, but I'm sure a length of bungy cord would provide the same functionality 😀

Interesting and thanks. I did something like this about 20 years back. Using nuts and bolts. The idea is like with the screw jack: F = +/- f/p = (2 * pi * f' * l) and can be found with explanations in text books about mechanical engineering or more recently Wikipedia. In my case, I was fooling with compressing powders --- which relied on a physical property of all sorts of "powders" like soils --- 'the angle of repose.' This last might be found on in the cited sources, maybe. Or maybe in a textbook, concerting road construction.

Outstanding design, on another level. Could you also incorporate a quick release system. The current pressure release system doesn’t take into consideration injury or trapping scenarios. My comment should not take away any respect I have for this design.

quick question about your video process: is the build you show on camera your 2nd? It seems that some steps are planned like you already know the next step and prepare everything you need in advance, so I am assuming you already built the first one off-camera as proof of your concept and you built it a 2nd time in front of the camera when your concept is ready, am I right? also amazing engineering and inventions !!!

Nice build but I really really don't like the exposed springs not being shieled like that. Seems very dangerous to me, just takes one having a slight fault and snapping in the wrong way and cause real injury. Maybe put covers over them?
