Thanks for this 'basic product'. How lucky is that, I have all of these things lying around home. Instead of using the CloudBit I used a basic GPS device, called my friend at NASA and had him broadcast the appropriate bird song globally with directions to my auto feeder. Finished this project in 11 minutes.

Steve The bird feeder is nice, I look forward to building it with my daughter. Her name is Adeline, and she is 4 1/2 years old. She loves watching your videos each week with me. It's a ritual that has quickly become almost nightly in our home. This one in particular was enjoyable for us because of the Inside Out, Triple Dent Gum jingle Easter egg. That was really cool. Thank you for helping us bond over such a cool hobby/lifestyle. I look forward to meeting you in Kansas City. I asked her what she wanted to say to you and she said "I like his videos, and I like the colors he paints things" Keep up the great work!

I came back to watch this since enough paint has come off of the one I made years ago that the plywood roof is starting to peel away. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed your Micro Jig intros. Pity that sponsorship had to end. Great bird feeder, though -- the birds love this way more than the commercial one that hangs near it.

There are bottle joiners and you could fill a 2 liter bottle and attach it on top of the bottle. This would allow extended time away, like on a holiday. Birds still get fed while you are away.

That's a cool bird feeder. Is there any concern of getting spray paint in the screen or was that area covered like the bottle? Also, awesome choice of songs with the little bits demo. I just went to the movies with the family to see Inside Out last weekend

Steve, like the project. In fact in the shop right now and considering making one. However, two questions. 1) What type of screws are you using? They look like Philips heads but am I seeing Torx???? 2) I know your bird feeder is Red, but is it OK if I still paint my Purple? And use some spray lacquer? Thanks, always informative.

Hi Steve! I'm a huge fan and your channel has really inspired me to embrace and experiment. I was just wondering a couple of things - why do you use plywood for this project instead of regular 1x4s or 2x4s (or something of the like)? Also, can you use brad nails instead of screws? I'm new to woodworking and just trying to understand the "hows" and "whys" of everything. Thanks for having such an awesome and empowering channel!!
@SteveRamsey
@SteveRamsey 7 жыл бұрын
I often use plywood on projects that I am going to paint since I don't care what the wood grain looks like. It is cheaper than solid boards and flat...no twists or warping! Brad nails are fine, but can eventually work their way out. Screws are always more secure. But in a small project like this, it doesn't really matter. Wood glue will be stronger than either fastener.

Thanks much and love the vids.

You probably should knot the string used for hanging the feeder. I can see a squirrel getting up there and causing the whole thing to tip to one side, spilling all of the bird seed. Then it would be an automatic squirrel feeder.
