Jenny Doan demonstrates how to make a merry wreath quilt using 10 inch squares of precut fabric. For this project, Jenny chose "Rainbow of Jewels" 10" Squares by Jason Yenter for In the Beginning Fabrics, but it sure would be cute as a Christmas quilt in holiday colors!
This quick and easy layer cake quilt pattern is absolutely stunning, and it's as easy as hourglass blocks! Watch Jenny whip up half square triangles eight at a time with the
easy eight" method. She squares up each block in a jiffy with the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer, and the whole quilt comes out darn near perfect!

So good to see Jenny teaching us how to sew this block all by her self. No distractions, no extra people or jibber-jabber. Just Jenny, the fabric, iron and sewing machine. Jenny gets right to the point of teaching with her straight forward and understandable method. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!

So, once again, Jenny hit it out of the ballpark AGAIN....Honestly Jenny, you actually make me smile through every single video that you make. You are such an amazing teacher. I think everyone (well, at least me!) who watches you feels as though you are a VERY close friend and/or part of the family!!! I've learned so much from you. You drive home the idea that "It's okay if it isn't perfect". My husband's Grandmother used to say "If you want PERFECT, buy it from the STORE, but if you want something made with love, GIVE something HANDMADE!!!!! When we first married, I would proudly show my husband's Grandma something she'd taught me (crochet, tatting,) and I was eager to point out my mistakes to her and she'd stop me and say "Honey, those aren't mistakes! This is how you learn and learning to ake this for someone means you're not only putting yourself into that project, but you're making it with the love you have for that person you're making (whatever it was) this for." My husband's grandma died two months after her first great-granddaughter was born. While she was in the hospital having Chemo treatments, she tatted 10 YARDS of lace to be put on a Christening Gown for our daughter and our future children. Every time someone in the family wears that Christening Gown, I can see Grandma's smile the first time she saw her great-granddaughter in that Christening Gown. Jenny, you remind me so very much of my husband's grandma.....you truly put so much love and warmth into all these tutorials for everyone, you really do. Thank you, Jenny, for all you do for us quilters!

When we had to squeeze in seams that didn't quite match, the "baggy bottom" rule applied and the bigger one would go next to the feed dogs. I always remembered that little "baggy bottom" rule. This is an adorable quilt.

I dont normally work with panels, but I have a Good Kitty (Connie Haley) panel which has several of its 9 squares that can be used for the center square. But the point of "setting the seam" is to do it immediately prior to opening the block and pressing the seam. You "set the seam" to soften the fabric and thread so it opens and then lays back without duck pleats. So, setting it that far in advance would defeat the purpose. Personally, I rarely set seams.
@charlenekalectaca218
@charlenekalectaca218 3 жыл бұрын
I do that, too. 😀 It helps the block lay flatter prior to cutting. And, you are right, it makes it look so crisp...😍

What a stunning quilt for which we are all here to watch the making process and make along with you, Jenny - please can you slow down a little? I would rather have a chatty, helpful half hour tutorial than a very rushed, part-instruction session. I so look forward to Friday morning catch-ups whilst recently it feels like you always have somewhere else you need to be. I don’t want them to be over too quickly 🙂
@RosemaryN
@RosemaryN 3 жыл бұрын
Sue Hatfield I think Jenny was as delightfully chatty as ever, there’s just a lot of fiddly steps in this block assembly and she did skip over her usual block layout this time. Maybe there’s some time constraint on the video that she had filled and had to skip, don’t know..
