Been selling commissions on Etsy for 2 years as an aspiring artist. These AI commissions have flooded Etsy have really hurt my income. I can barely afford rent now. Not that I don’t understand it, it just really sucks. Completely devalued my skill set I’ve spent a lifetime working towards and dreamt of turning into a career some day.

Thanks for the video... I just wanted to add that you can not just take the generated file and upload it as it is only 1024 pixels 1:1 ratio @ 72dpi, this won't work for printing, you will have to enlarge it and convert to 300 dpi/ppi. Keeping the quality while doing this is possible, but not always. So I guess now that makes it even harder for the customers to just do it themselves. Plus, in theory someone would have to type In the identical phrase to have a chance at outputting same image. Sorry that was so long. :0)

So everyone should know a low barrier to entry to make products with result in very high competition so in-order to do AI stuff, it will take work and not just Plan AI designs put on some POD product with no extra work is very unlikely to work for the majority of people. You will need to take what AI gives you and add work to it in to make yourself stand out and make a product that will sell not to mention the part where you still need to appeal to what your audience of buyers will want to buy. I use it for composition and ideals but then actually create my products and never use AI in my works itself.

It's universal advice. It's getting off the subject, but I think the value of AI art is going to be really really really really low very soon. Like all the wall posters you see at IKEA and Michaels that are just dobs of paint splatted on them mass produced in China? It's just a hypothesis, a prediction and I could be wrong, but if I'm not, then best get to it while the getting is good. and as a fallback, ya'll can always work on drawing skills.

Selling AI art goes against Etsy‘s policy in most cases. The AI uses existing images. If you try this you will get copyrighted very fast either by bots (that companies use to search their images on the internet) or other sellers. If you get copyrighted you will either have to stop selling the art, or risk going to court by the person who made the claim which you shouldn’t do bc they will win. on top of that, bc it’s so easy a lot of people are trying this , which will result in you losing money on each sale due to toxic pricing. In most cases you need to make an llc to sell on Etsy legally with taxes and besides that, Etsy also has the right to hold your payment and refund clients if your do get a copyright claim. Don’t do this. I have been a full time Etsy seller for a minute (field not affected by ai) and it’s not something you can set up quickly and start earning free money like she claims.
@cn6519
@cn6519 Жыл бұрын
It does not. It is not a collage or a facsimile. It trains off of existing image, like say, telling a gorilla to recognize a banana, and the shape and look of a banana, and then said gorilla, then selects or paint a banana in the future. But it is not actually storing the image of a banana, and then putting it into its library for use later. Every banana image will always come out different, because it is constantly repainting the banana. Any article on the internet that says otherwise is most likely propaganda / fear campaigns paid for by industry heads who love the control they had on such fields and creative industries. Plus all ai art still takes some skill and time to manipulate. I have yet to find one that gives me a perfect vision the first time, every time.

@@cn6519 Companies like apple, Disney, adobe pay for bots that automatically flag stores selling things with their textures, fonts, etc. It doesn't have to be an exact copy and you would never be able to argue it Besides the law around AI copyright which is still in a kind-of grey area, you would still get flagged for copyright on etsy, and unless you have a legal team to take the person/company that flags you to court, you don't really have a choice but leave the platform after it happens a few times. I don’t get why people are so salty about ai art. All respect to original artists but ai art is great for those who have creative minds but are not as talented translating those thoughts to canvas. At the end of the day ai art should be appreciated and not hated because technology isn’t going anywhere.

Because AI generates an image by using art made by us, artists and mash it up to look as something the AI user wrote to look like. There are countless examples where the AI images even have the original signature of an artist. And all of this is happening without the permission of an artist him/herself... So basically it is stealing.... And for example this lady earns money off the mix of other artists works....

That's not TRUE @00:35 that it's as easy for folks to make AI art themselves...honestly- I've spent over a 100 hours to understand MIdjourney. So if they go and try- they will get something but it will not be exactly what they want, THERE IS A LEARNING CURVE...It takes 1. skill in prompting 2. helpful to know art styles and 3. to be able to combine mentally what you want as a result! And I'm a trained artist, and keep up on tech.

How sad that Etsy used to be a great place for real artists to create and sell their authentic, handmade or digital true, human art creations. Now people type words into a computer and it spits out an image and they call it art to make a quick buck. It was bad enough when mass produced hastily made designs took over Etsy.

Sure you can do that. But a soon as one voice raises its anger, you'll loose all customers and potential new ones. Taking people for fools, especially when they give you money is just never a good idea in the long term. Play fair, be respected : simple. The hatred for AI art comes from people who never tried and don't know what it is. New things always generate hatred from the "it was better before" people. The most reticent will one day be convinced. Lying to them now would be a mistake in the long term.

@Stevie Moore Well to that argument any person creating the AI art is the "screenwriter" since their words written (prompts) are what tell the generator what to create... it's literally their creative visions generated into a visual piece.
@StevieMoore
@StevieMoore Жыл бұрын
@@MsBonnieJ419 no, it’s not. It’s about a creative as a google search, which is zero. They just plug in a concept, and then work of actual artists is stolen from them all across the the internet with no compensation, and a machine photobashes them together. It’s artificial intelligence, not human intelligence. It can’t draw, the people using it often can’t draw. It’s marginally creative and the capacity a person has to be creative doing it is minuscule. You know the difference? I can actually draw or paint what I want to see with my mind. Many using AI can’t with the help of a machine. So if anybody is being creative, it’s a machine stealing actual creative art. Not the person. It’s amazing people can’t get this through their heads.

AI "art" is an abomination, The definition of art: The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. This "art" requires no skill and or real imagination to produce.

I think the whole thing's a bunch of BS. Most of the AI art looks like graphic art or fantasy art. That kind of art never sold well for most people. Some people might be able to sell some of that art in some niche market but overall there's no way that this is going to live up to the hype. Which kind of artist is AI art going to replace? Maybe graphic artists, maybe. I say anyone that says that this kind of artwork is going to make you a lot of money I say prove it.

@HanSolocambo Жыл бұрын
Definitely is. You're saying that because you didn't try, or not enough. Raw result from a text prompt is the first txt2img step (sadly what most people do and call "art", which is bullshit because it takes 4 seconds and you do nothing basically). But then you send that first step into img2img or inpaint and from there, it can take 2 days of inpaint to really bring the image in the direction you want. I didn't think it was art either, but after having spent about 5 days on 4 images, believe me somehow it's art. New ? Sure. But art definitely. Time will tell.
@joemadsenphoto

@@HanSolocambo what you described is retouching. Not art. Ai steals from existing artwork. Spending 5 days on 4 pieces is not a long time. Artists spend weeks, months, or even years creating something original, only for it to be stolen from an ai generator. It’s damaging to the current and future generations of artists because it’s devaluing what a real artist does.
