Bought headhunters when it came out. Having those instruments or having them to play with not even a fantasy..or barely. They cost as much as a car!

Matt's studio reminds me of my bedroom studio from the late 90's. Juno 106, check, old Moog, check. Rack gear and a computer at the side, but not in the centre of the action! I had a electric piano back then too, but it was a Yamaha CP80M!

Yes! As soon as I saw the thumbnail imagine I was in! Of all the synth and keyboard sounds, these 70s tones are by far my favorite!

Headhunters period is some of the most advanced funk ever. Pressure cooker grooves from deepest outer space. Hard to beat Herbie when it comes to tasty rhodes, clav & synths. You nailed his sound there, Matt. Love the bite on your e-piano when you dig in. Respec an ting ;)

I love the Thrust album! 🎹 Another underrated gem is Donald Byrd’s Ethiopian Knights, which has two album side smoking 💥hot, funk jams and one short cringey throwaway.

Herbie Hancock is my musical idol, and Headhunters and Thrust are up there with my favourite albums ever. There are snippets of Headhunter’s live performances on KZfaq. I find myself watching them over and over and over again. Thanks for this video Matt, and keep up the exceptional content 😁
