I like the way this fella goes about things here. Like (I suspect) many people, My willingness to exercise patience has, since I became hooked on abusing my phone, and picked up a KZfaq Shorts habit, virtually disappeared. Often, I find tutorial videos such as this frustratingly slow because, I imagine, well-intentioned people teach slow enough not be off-putting for beginners; which is nice, but I often think it likely that the vast majority of people learning guitar parts of at least intermediate level difficulty (of which, I'd say, this is a good example) are beyond beginner standard players.

Never give up Sheldon, get help from a teacher to get yourself to a good level then just keep pushing yourself. I only learned to strum a few chords as a kid with lessons and am mostly self taught, but even if something is seemingly beyond your ability bits of it won't be and in time you can learn them. KZfaq is great if you can play but very misleading if you are a beginner as people who can play make it look so easy. Best advise is to start with lessons

Good job there dude, on that tutorial. There are very few on KZfaq for this great tune and some of them aren’t even in the ballpark. Yours is very close to the original from the record and you do a good job of teaching it in segments. Like all guitar solos, you have to hear them in your head before you will have any chance of playing them. Thanks again for this one!

Great Kevin but i checked the original on KZfaq and it seems the second part is played differently. Using the same/similar scale as the intro. He is stretching over 4 frets and not just around frets 2/3 on the D/G strings. It gives a more bass sound. I appreciate that there is more than one way to play leads but if you ever get around to doing the second part as per the record, can you upload it. I know you are more than capable..cheers
@SOITORAMA9 жыл бұрын
mytoobusr saw that too "mytoobusr" instead of using the open G you can alsouse (maybe a better sound like you said) the 4th string on the 5th fret, also a G, ifyou search or look for "make me smile solo tab" on google they play it on the 5th fret, for the rest Kevin did a great job, it is really a good lesson. Like I said just use the 3th string on the 5th fret (G) and you will have more bass, the rest is the same...take care, greetings from Belgium

Started of so well. Brilliant pace and direction and then it got to the fourth phrase. Just too long like that for me. Thanks anyway.
@KevinAcres7 жыл бұрын
Andy Robinson hi Andy try writing it out as tab from the tutorial you will then find it a lot easier otherwise you learn one phrase then try the next and forget the first one. Once writen down as tab you have a reference until you get it all in your head
@Telee_Pawt7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin. I'll try that. You've set a new standard for this kind of lesson m8.

Yeah... Might use this as reference, but it's not quite right - some of those twiddles. Having said that, the original is quite hard to make out in places - possibly around those famous edits, when there might have been a little mixer fudging..! Wonder if I can find Jim Cregan playing it live..?
