Experimentation is the key!

This is absolutely mind blowing! You are intense! Never before did I know that crafting your own leather boots would be feasible! Thank you very much good sir for the insight! I am working on a craft that this bit of information would be perfect for! One question as for the mold, is it a must that it has to be made of wood? Could I use a durable resin in place of the wood? @@flylopez7715 Hello and thanks. Anything solid will work for the mold -- metal, wood, resin, even epoxy putty probably. Enjoy your experimenting!

Unfortunately, in this case at least, epoxy does stick to masking tape so it would probably not work. As always though, I encourage people to try and experiment until you find a solution. Thanks!

By all means experiment and see how you get on -- for several years I was exclusively using vegetable tanned leather (wet forming) these boots and adding leather soles -- I still like this method the best but the video you are posting on here was the result of taking a different approach. Base block is 10cm x 6cm and about 2cm deep. The top piece is 10cm x 6cm and about 5mm deep

the mold is made on the top piece, right? I see 5 mm is rather thin, so it will be a thin sole.

I don't think so. You really need a solid form to shape the leather around.

@@bahahadidi3167 It is just two pieces of scrap wood. One piece is shaped (use files or a dremel type tool) and then screw it to a base piece. You could make it in about 20 minutes.

If it is thin and pliable enough then I don't see why not. Having not actually tried it I cannot give a comprehensive answer, sorry.
